Mordovian scholars attended EUROPEAN BIOTECHNOLOGY CONGRESS 2014 in LECCE

European Biotechnology Congress 2014 was organized by European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association and the Unversita Del Salento between 15 – 18 May 2014. Among scholars from Russia invited to attend this scientific event was a group of researchers from Mordovian Centre for Biotechnologies, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology of Ogarev Mordovia State University: Viktor Revin, Dean of Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology, seniour lecturers from Chair of Biotechnology Elena Liyaskina, Nelly Atykyan, Svetlana Ibragimova.

The scientific programme has been designed to cover all aspects of biotechnology, microbial physiology, microbial synthetic and systems biology, applied biocatalysis, industrial biotechnology, biochemical engineering, medical biotechnology and much more. Leading scholars from such countries as Sweden, UK, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, France, Czech, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Brasil, Lithuania, Slovakia have covered a variety of topics including many aspects of bioprocessing and biochemical engineering, stem cells, biomaterials, tissue Engineering, food & feed Biotechnology, synthetic biotechnology, plant and medical biotechnology, renewables, biorefinery, bioenergy, biofuels, bioproducts.

Mordovia researchers spoke on issues of biofuels and bioproducts for plant protection, production of bacterial exopolysaccharides using food industry wastes. Research papers presented by Mordovian scholars aroused a keen interest among congress attendees. The congress has provided excellent opportunity to network, share ideas and form partnerships with: biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, investment companies, equipment manufacturers, technology providers, medical device companies, government and regulatory bodies, biotechnology associations, research institutes, universities, consultants, law firms and individual biotechnologists.

To expand professional horizons scientists from Mordovia have joined European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association as individual members.
