Rospatent and WIPO warrant intellectual property rights at Mordovia State University

Under the aegis of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and Rospatent, N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University has launched Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC).

Since 2012, Rospatent in co-operation with WIPO have been engaged in creation of such centres in Russia. As of today, 141 have already been opened in 63 regions of Russia. Following the agreement on cooperation between Rospatent and the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as on the basis of the agreement with N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University the local TISC is aimed at helping all economic entities of the Republic of Mordovia in the procedure of state registration of intellectual property objects.

The main objective of the TISC is to educate and broaden awareness providing access to information systems, databases for search and registration of applications for inventions, utility models, industrial designs and patents. TISC has significantly extended the opportunities of the University department of intellectual property management. Head of Department A.I. Salnikova is of the opinion that students, postgraduates, scholars can have free access to the full text databases of inventions and utility models and to search for analogues of their developments, to identify trends in science and technology, take advantage of the specialised literature in the field of intellectual property, to get a qualifying assistance on legislation in the field of intellectual property. We will also help to choose the optimal form of legal protection of results of intellectual activity of inventors. The co-operation of the University with Rospatent will let us hold conferences, seminars and other activities in the field of information support for inventive and innovative activity, publicise the issues pertaining to the legal protection and use of intellectual activity results.
