National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University to further cooperation with the Academy of Runosong (Finland)

A new agreement for cooperation between the Academy of Runosong funded by the Juminkeko Foundation (Kuhmo, Finland) and Ogarev Mordovia State University was singed by the Director of the Academy Pekka Huttu-Hiltunen and Rector of National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University Sergey M. Vdovin.

S.M. Vdovin underlined the importance of establishing scientific links with scholars from Finno-Ugric countries and expressed his hope for further development of cooperation between the University and the Academy.

A meeting at the University was also attended by N. Sh. Vatolkina, Head of International Relations Office; T. N. Sidorkina, Director of the Institute of National and Folk Culture; S. A. Isayeva, Head of the Chair of Folk Music. The Institute of National and Folk Culture has been actively cooperating with the Academy of Runosong since 2014. The Academy is a research centre studying the traditional music culture of Finno-Ugric peoples. Working together with Ogarev Mordovia State University, representatives of the Academy were able to perform three field trips delving into the finer points of singing traditions of Moksha-Erzya ethnic groups across the Republic of Mordovia. There is an upcoming expedition to Kadoshkinskiy District of Mordovia beginning on the 25th of May
