On 27 April Rector Sergey M. Vdovin was scheduled to meet with Professor of biotechnology Nikolay Zhelev from Abertay University, Dundee, Scotland. The meeting was devoted to the prospects of scientific cooperation in the field of biotechnology.

To see Rector through the negotiations the meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for science and research P.V. Senin and Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology, V.V. Revin. Introduction of the guest scholar with the University began with a promotional video in English. Then the participants visited the main building of the University – lecture halls, session hall of the Senate, sightseeing platform. N. Zhelev was particularly interested in the possibility of carrying out large-scale research on the University premises:

Research center, which I am head of at Abertay University, have for a long time been working with the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology, there are joint papers, prepare a joint coursebook. We often meet with professor Revin at international conferences. For instance, in July of this year in Sofia (Bulgaria), the International Biotechnology Congress will take place, and we are both involved in its organisation. I am very glad that I was able to visit Mordovia State University, I am impressed by the achievements of the University in science and innovation development. I hope one of the next biotech Congresses we will be able to hold in Mordovia.

V. V. Revin chimes in with his comments: Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology and research centre of Abertay University are projected to deepen cooperation in many areas. It is primarily joint research projects and participation in international grant schemes.

Rector Sergey M. Vdovin expressed his hope for successful cooperation between biotechnologists of Dundee and Saransk:

Today in Saransk there are all possibilities for the organisation of large-scale scientific events. Academic buildings of our University, facilities of Science Park and high-tech industrial companies may serve as platforms of intensive interaction and today's meeting is illustrative of a new level of cooperation between research tems of our universities!

Nikolai Zhelev’s stay in Mordovia State University is packed with meetings with colleagues- biotechnologists, health workers, administrative staff of the Republican companies, and visits to scientific laboratories.
