During February 24 - March 3, Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted a consortium meeting&workshop. The event is part of international Erasmus+ project entitled «Excellence in Engineering Education through Teacher Training and New Pedagogic Approaches in Russia and Tajikistan» (EXTEND). Project consortium consists of 11 higher education institutions from Latvia, Romania, Portugal, UK, Russia and Tajikistan.

The schedule of the meeting encompassed issues of project management, quality assurance in teaching, methodological aspects of teaching engineering disciplines, professional qualification, learning outcomes, knowledge versus skills, categories of competences, competences descriptors for engineers enrolled in academic programmes.

Representatives of the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (Romania), Riga Technical University (Latvia) shared their experience in the field of technology-enhanced learning. Power point (PP) presentations introduced the audience to an array of new concepts such as a digital native / digital immigrant/ smart devices/tools, gamisation, digitalisation drawing on works by Max Pensky and a few others.

The workshop included webinars, moderated by University of Minho (Portugal) targeting various aspects of assessing students’ academic performance.

The meeting had a practical application – a survey of master’s degree students of the Faculty of Economics and postgraduates specialising in engineering disciplines on using of ICT in the educational process.

Upon completion the audience worked out a number of operational decisions on further implementation of the project to be considered for the next meeting which will be held in June 2018 at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (Romania).
