Mordovia State University celebrates the day of Spanish language and literature

On the 23rd of April Spain celebrates "El día del Libro y de la Rosa" ("The Day of Book and Rose") or " Day of the Spanish language and literature." To commemorate this event, the Faculty of Foreign Languages have invited Professor Sergio Mas Dias to deliver an open lecture on "Russian and European romanticism: the relationship of literature, music, philosophy". A polyglot, philologist and philosopher, prof. Mas Dias teaches Spanish at a university level as a course of further education and professional retraining.  

The interdisciplinary nature of the lecture's topic aroused great interest and response among students and teaching staff of Mordovia State University. The talk was devoted to romanticism as a literary school, artistic and philosophical direction. The romanticism principles such as: love, freedom, beauty, conflict of mind and feelings were highlighted. The talk was accompanied by excerpts from music and literary works, videos, theatrical productions. By using this material the lecturer could prove the interrelations of culture, art and philosophy in different linguistic cultures and showed the influence of romanticism on the spiritual development of next generations.
