Landtag of Thuringia delegation attends Mordovia State University

On May 28th, delegation of the Landtag of Thuringia (Germany) attended National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University within the official visit to the Republic of Mordovia.

 Deputy head of the fraction of Christian-democratic Union Egon Primas and the Chairman of the German-Russian friendship society in Thuringia Tilo Kummer met with the Rector of Mordovia State University Sergey M. Vdovin to discuss possibilities of cooperation in education and science.

The discussion group included Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic of Moldova V.V. Alyokhin, Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy of the State Assembly of Mordovia R.Z. Ashirov, Vice-Rector for Informatisation and International Cooperation K.A. Leshchankin, Head of International Relations Office E.V. Soldatova, Head of the Chair of German Philology S.V. Bespalovа, Head of the Republican society of German language and culture, I.V. Lapteva, Associate Professor of the Chair of German Philology, A.I. Sergeev.

During a lively discussion the Rector underscored that Mordovia State University had already enjoyed the experience of successful cooperation with German colleagues: 8 agreements were signed with German universities and research centers, scientists worked together in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. At the same time there is a number of fields at which both National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University and Universities of Thuringia are interested: pharmaceutics and biotechnology, optics and photonics, innovative materials science and engineering, Germanic philology, etc.

Negotiations helped to identify possible areas of cooperation, pledging parties to work towards:

- a network resource centre for German language and culture together with the Universities of Thuringia, which will host open educational resources of universities: video lectures and webinars with leading German professors;

- educational projects in the field of teaching foreign languages, as well as research projects in the field of architecture and urban planning, pharmaceutics and biotechnology, German studies;

- participation in academic mobility programmes within the Erasmus+ programme;

- implementation of the programme "Guest Professor" for delivering lectures on methods of teaching German as a foreign language and a practical course of the German language;

- organisation of summertime curricular practical training.
