Ogarev Mordovia State University hosts the International Finno-Ugric Youth Festival of theatre groups «Vaigel»

The opening of the festival “Vaigel (Voice)” took place in the Palace of Culture and Arts, Ogarev Mordovia State University on December 5th , 2018

The purpose of the festival is to promote the youth artistic creativity and to popularise the best practices in working with theatre groups.

The Rector of Ogarev Mordovia State University greeted the audience in his opening speech:

«Dear participants, experts, the audience and guests of the festival, welcome to the National Research Mordovia State University! “Vaigel (Voice)” is a creative project of our University in the field of theatre arts. The festival has had a long and challenging way of evolvement. That is why we are looking forward to an exciting and rich programme. I am sure we will all enjoy the performances during the festival week. I wish the festival a long life and success”

Representatives of 18 theatres have arrived this year: Belgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Kemerovo, Moscow, Naberezhnye Chelny, Omsk, Samara, Syktyvkar, Ufa and Estonia. The performances will be presented in three nominations: professional theatre, amateur theatre and educational theatre. They will be run in 8 different places, one of which is the Palace of Culture and Arts of Ogarev Mordovia State University.

The festival has an educational character: workshops, creative laboratories will be taught by leading mentors from Moscow, Petrazavodsk, the Ukraine and Germany.

Mordovia State University will accommodate educators from different countries who created their own techniques in the scenic movement, choreography, scenic speech, directing, acting skills. They represent both classical and modern trends in art: “documentary theater”, “verbatim”, “multimedia performance”. Following the results of the work of the international team, four new theatre performances will be prepared.
