A Spanish scholar – an early bird at the start of the year 2019

On 15th of January Ogarev Mordovia State University welcomed the first international scholar - Sergio Mas Diaz, PhD in humanities from University of Barcelona (Spain).

The aim of his stay is to teach Spanish classes and popularise the Spanish language among the students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Spanish is offered as an optional course for the students of the second and third year of studies. Couple dozen of undergraduate students are attending the Spanish language course this academic year.

In addition, Mr Mas Diaz is planning to offer a workshop for the pupils of secondary school N17 in Saransk who are learning Spanish as well.

Mr. Mas Diaz is a frequent visitor to M.M.Bakhtin Centre at Ogarev Mordovia State University. On 18 January, 2019 he was the participant of the video conference «Russian language for foreigners» organised by Lomonosov Moscow State University. The broadcast of the conference in Saransk was held in Bakhtin Centre and foreign students all over Russia could watch and take part in it.
