Representatives of PVA TePla AG (Germany) attended Mordovia State University by invitation of the university administration. The objective of the visit: negotiations for implementation of the joint project "Synthesis and processing of SiC monocrystalline crystals".


In accordance with the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) order № 4245-06 from 26.11.2012 the Federal State Budgetary Academic Institution of Higher Education “N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University” was announced the winner in the nation-wide competition “Quality Systems of Training Graduates at HEIs in the nomination “Recognized Excellence”.


Republic of Mordovia was ranked top first by the Foundation “Saint-Petersburg Politics” in the rating of stable development based on the results of December 2012.

Positive factors that have impacted the rating of Mordovia, were, above all, frequent references of Vladimir Putin to the experience of the Republic at his annual press conference. Also, economic events do matter! They are: announcing of the project dealing with furniture manufacture with the European holding company Nowy Styl Group engaged, an agreement with LLC "Zernoprodukt +" to build a hi-tech complex processing of grain, the discussion with the Hungarian KESZ (KEC) about creation of the enterprise to be engaged in manufacture of metal structures and finally, launching of plainface cast plant in the Chamzinsky district.

On 29 September the long-awaited news that Saransk from a pretender city turned into one of the host cities of the 2018 World Championship in Soccer was announced. During the live television coverage 4000 soccer aficionados were watching in anticipation at the local Ice Arena where a huge LCD monitor had been installed. Approximately 500 Mordovian students headed by the Rector, Sergey M.Vdovin were also there and rejoiced at the news.

On 25 of September Rector of Ogarev Mordovia State University and Director of Ecole Centrale de Lille Etienne Craye entered into the agreement on academic co-operation. The parties had arranged to affix their signatures to the agreement during the international conference entitled @Innovations in higher education and co-operation with research institutions incorporated by French National Centre for Research@ (CNRS). During the meeting the parties exchanged basic facts on academic institutions and discussed scientific fields where joint research can be carried out.

According to the recent edition of the reference book entitled “Best academic programmes of innovative Russia”, ten such programmes are offered by Ogarev Mordovia State University. Among them are Applied mathematics and IT, Russian regional studies, General medical treatment, Economics, Business Information Technology, Tourism/Hospitality management, Hotel business, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering.

5-7 September Poznan University of Technology from Poland hosted the XVth international conference on quality management «QMOD Conference on Quality and Service Sciences ICQSS 2012». More than 200 members of academic staff from 27 countries attended the event. Russia was represented by 5 delegates of which three are staff of Mordovian State University including Dr., Prof. Tatyana Salimova - dean of the Economics Faculty and two graduate studies students from the Chair of Quality Management: N.A. Novokreshchenova and E.K. Leshchankina.

On 10-14 September Sevastopol (Ukraine) became the venue for the International conference “MCS-2012” devoted to the commemoration of N.G. Chetaev and V.M. Matrosov, two prominent Russian scholars in the fields of analytic mechanics, theory of stability and related fields of pure and applied mathematics, in particular, qualitative theory of differential equations, mechanics, mathematical modelling and control.

On 8-9 September 2012 Saransk will be hosting the famous intellectual game “What? Where? When?” a competitive version of one the most popular TV programmes in Russia. 26 teams from CIS, USA, Israel, UK, Germany and Baltic states will attempt to win the game. Altogether 14 states will be attended.

On 29 August Assembly of European Regions (AER)’ secretary general Pascal Goergen visited Ogarev Mordovia State University to make necessary preparations for the upcoming visit of AER’s delegation to the Republic of Mordovia. Secretary general had a few meetings with the Rector Sergey M. Vdovin and students where he made a presentation of AER’s scope of activities and opportunities of possible partnerships.


Sergey Kirdyapkin, a graduate of Physics and Chemistry Institute, won the 50km race walk in record time in London. Under hot sun in the British capital, Sergey timed an Olympic record of 3hrs 35min 59sec on this distance.

Yelena Lashmanova, an undergraduate of Biology Faculty, won gold in the Olympic women's 20 kilometres walk in a world record time of one hour 25 minutes two seconds.

Her teammate Olga Kaniskina took the silver seven second behind after being overtaken by Lashmanova in the final few metres having led from the start.

On 14 June upon completion of the Lappeenranta Forum on European innovative ecosystem, the rector representing Ogarev Mordovia State University, Sergey M. Vdovin and his vis-à-vis, the rector of Lappeenranta University of Technology Ilkka Pöyhönen signed an agreement on co-operation.


 «Interfax» and broadcasting station «Echo of Moscow» have published the rating of Russian HEIs. In 2011 apart from so called classical-type universities, the regular rating included 29 research universities. Ogarev Mordovia State University goes shares the 23rd-24th positions with Irkutsk University of Technology and it enjoyes the 19th-20th places among research universities.

Senate’s meeting held 29 May, discussed the Programme to shape and advance the values of a healthy lifestyle among students and staff. The content of the Programme was voiced by Vice-Rector for extracurricular activities Marina M. Martynova, chief medical officer Natalia А. Kosterina, head of therapeutics department of the student polyclinic № 8 Tatyana B. Dronova.
