On 23 June, Rector of N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University Sergey M. Vdovin took part in the international Congress «Science and engineering education 2016» held at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.


On June 14, the updated international QS Universities rankings EECA (Emerging Europe&Central Asia) 2016 were issued, which assesses universities in 25 countries of Europe and Central Asia.

The authors of the rankings took into account data for 5 last years applying 9 criteria: academic reputation (more than 77000 academic experts were interviewed); reputation among employers (more than 44000 employers expressed their opinions on strengths and flaws of graduates, proportion of teaching staff and students; proportion of international teaching staff and researchers; proportion of international students, publication activity of the teaching staff; citation rate of publications; proportion of teaching staff with an academic degree; efficiency of the Internet resources (according to Webometrics rankings).

Based on the above Ogarev Mordovia State University is positioned among the universities that go from 151 to 200.


The Joint International Laboratory LIA “LICS” between France, Russia and Ukraine on “Critical and supercritical phenomena in functional electronics, acoustics and fluidics” is a new project for period 2013-2016, with enlarged and strongly renewed scientific scope. It is constructed on the core part of the partnership established during the 1995 – 2012 years, but presents slight evolutions of the members in accordance with the new scientific programme.


On May 16 Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted the nation-wide (with international participation) conference - «Biological aspects of dissemination, adaptation and resistance of plants». As follows from the title the conference discussed plants’ dissemination, adaptation and resistance to unfavorable factors.


On May 12, the representatives of the Office of English language under the US Embassy in Moscow Gerald Frank (attaché for culture and education) and Elena Lubnina (officer of the Department of English language) visited Mordovia State University. The aim of their visit was to discuss the participation of the University in the international programme FELLOWS. According to the terms of the programme, a teacher of English will be employed by the University throughout the academic year of 2016/2017.nThe office of English language offers only highly-qualified instructors of English that is why many Russian universities enjoy the programme.


The International exhibition and forum ECOTECH organised by the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation took place in Russia April 26 through 29, 2016 at one of the most modern fairgrounds Crocus Expo IEC.


As part of the project “Lifelong education without dimension: opportunities in the Russian-European integration (LED)” Economics Faculty held a roundtable session on «Lifelong education for sustainable development» on 12 April. The project is supported by the EU programme Jean Monnet (Erasmus+) which is aimed at advancing research in sphere of education and European integration.


On 7 April the results of the Round University Ranking 2016 were issued. 700 universities from 74 different countries (among them were 22 Russian universities) were assessed. Mordovia State University moved upward 72 positions and rose from last year’s place of 646 to 574 in Overall Ranking. Also, the University improved its positions in such areas as «Research» and «International Activities». Among the Russia’s universities Mordovia State University has settled down on 16th place.


10th conference in the series of annual conferences dedicated to “Parallel computing technologies” (PCT development and use of parallel computing technologies in various fields of science) took place in M.V. Lomonosov North (Arctic) Federal University in Arkhangelsk at the beginning of April.


On 31 March 2016 Institute of Further Education launched a project «English language courses for government officials» within the framework of preparations for FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia. The courses will be taught by the specialists of the Centre for Professional International Communication.

On 29 March Information and situation centre of Mordovia State University hosted the information meeting "European educational programmes – new opportunities". The meeting was held in the framework of the EU project "Enhancing the attractiveness of European higher education in the world".

Association of Leading Russian Universities and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). will jointly develop and implement a support programme for young scientists from Russia and Germany within the next 4 years. It was the topic of cooperation agreement signed on 23 March, 2016 in Moscow by the Rector of St. Petersburg State University Nikolai Kropachev and the President of DAAD - Margaret Wintermantel. The signing procedure was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries – Sergey Lavrov and Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Ogarev Mordovia State University is one of the co-founders of the above Association.


In March 2013 Ogarev Mordovia State University entered the consortium of a joint Russian-European project «Meta-Math», which is implemented in the framework of the TEMPUS programme. The project code is 543851-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPCR Modern Educational Technologies for Math Curricula in Engineering Education of Russia.


On February 25, Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology announced the results of the open nationwide competition for the right to receive licensed access to international science&research databases.


One of the student from Turkmenistan, a 4-year full time undergraduate-philologist Surai Seyidova has become a runner-up of the 5th Online Festival of Friendship “In the World of Russian Literature” hosted annually by Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Festival is an online contest in which international students demonstrate their knowledge of Russian culture and their creative talents.
