The latest festival of cultures «Ogarev Colouring», dedicated to the International Day of students, which is celebrated on November 17, became a part of history. This year’s festival brought together students from 54 countries. The online format allowed everyone to take part, even those who are far away from Russia due to COVID-19 pandemic.


The RUR Rankings Agency has released a new subject rankings pertaining to medical sciences taught at institutions of higher learning. Only 25 medical universities of the Russian Federation made the cut.

The XIII International Congress on clinical psychology is slated to be held online in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) from November 11 to 14, 2020. 

International students of Ogarev Mordovia State University took part in a blood donor campaign within the framework of the #Donor13 project. It was hosted by the Mordovian Republican blood transfusion station and timed to coincide with the National Unity Day (4 November). 


Since 2014, the RAEX Rating Agency has been releasing annual reputation rankings of Russian universities in such categories as «Technical, natural and exact sciences», «Economics and management», «Technical sciences, engineering and technology», «Mathematics and natural sciences», «Humanities and Social Sciences» and «Medicine».

End of October (22-23) went out with the 3rd online forum of the Volga-Yangtze Association of higher education institutions. 

The final stage of the international competition of student research projects «Germans in the economic life of Russia in the XVIII – early XXI century» took place in Moscow under the aegis of Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) and the Institute of Ethno-cultural education (BiZ). 

The Finno-Ugric scientific and public forum «All of us are Russia!» and the international conference titled «Finno-Ugric people in the context of forming a Russian nation-wide civil identity in a changing environment», took place in Saransk. 


This year, the third international competition on translation studies and didactics of translation titled «TRANSLATOR – creativity and education» named after A.V. Fedorov attained international reference getting together graduates not only from various cities and universities in Russia, but also from Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.

Following the results of the Stipendium Hungaricum competition, 5 graduates of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Ogarev Mordovia State University will continue their master degree programs in Hungarian universities


Associate professor of the Chair of neurology and psychiatry under Medical Institute of Ogarev Mordovia State University Natalia Tokareva attended the 27th International Symposium on psychiatry entitled «VIOLENCE and AGGRESSION», held in Barcelona, Spain between 28.08.2020 - 11.09.2020.

A student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology won an International competition of term papers. 


Following the results of the calls for proposals announced within the European Union Erasmus+ programme 2020, 3 projects under the Jean Monnet Activities programme and 1 project under the Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education programme were approved for funding by the European reviewers. By the number of projects supported under the Jean Monnet Activities Scheme, Mordovia State University is among the leaders.

On July 23-24, Students of Mordovia State University took part in the Data Hackathon, an International competition for solving global social problems using AI & Data.  This international event is supported by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and Ogarev Mordovia State University is the official regional organizer.  

Students of the Faculty of mathematics and information technology became winners, laureates and nominees of the prestigious International contest of graduation theses in technical, physical and mathematical sciences, earth sciences. During it open meeting held at the International multimedia press center of International News Agency "Russia today", the National Accreditation Board of National Center for Public Accreditation has approved the accreditation of academic programs offered by National Research Mordovia State University. 

In February between 21-23, Moscow hosted the XXII Congress of Russian and international pediatricians «Topical issues of Pediatrics» alongside with the Ist Russian conference of pediatric dermatologists. 


Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) released the results of competition for staging domestic and international academic events slated for the first half of 2020 in the Russian Federation. 


The research team headed by Igor V. Gulyev, full professor, Director of Research and Education Center «Energy-efficient double-fed motors for electric drives and vehicles» has made first practical steps in establishing research cooperation with one of largest European University – Ghent University (Belgium).


On February 4, 2020, Lomonosov Moscow State University will host the Second Russian-Uzbek Education Forum. The upcoming Forum will get together rectors of leading universities in Russia and Uzbekistan.


On December 15 through 22, the University hosted the Science, Technology, Engineering Education and Leadership (STEEL) Winter School, designed  for master degree students from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (China) enrolled in engineering programs. 

The Winter School was developed as a pilot project of Ogarev Mordovia State University for the students of the partner university and was implemented in English.

Sudanese Embassy officers visited Mordovia State University. The delegation was composed of: Consul of the Embassy - Hassan Mohammed Mahmoud Osman, administrative attaché Hassan Elsheikh Hassan Suliman, representative of the Sudanese community in Russia Makhmud Ali Fatkh Alrakhman Makhmud. The guests were accompanied by the academic officer Mohammed Khalil Hussein and Abdelmalik Mohamed Arif Abdallah, a student who heads the Sudanese student community in the University.


On 12th of December the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Moscow hosted a diplomatic reception of 50 Russian students from Nizhny Novgorod. This multifarious group included students of the Faculty of foreign languages of Ogarev Mordovia State University headed by the Dean of the Faculty Natalia V. Burenina and Head of the Chair of German Philology Svetlana V. Bespalova.


The international conference entitled «Implementation of the state policy aimed at combating corruption in organizations subordinated to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation» was held in Moscow.

The University continues its cooperation with the University of Siena (Italy), one of the oldest universities in Italy (founded in 1240).  


A monograph entitled «Interjectivation as a type of gradual transposition of language units in the system of Russian parts of speech (Materials to transpositional grammar of the Russian language)», Moscow: Academia Publ., 2009, 464 p., by Professor Viktor V. Shigurov, head of the Chair of Russian language, Faculty of Philology of Ogarev Mordovia State University was presented at the international book exhibition «BOOKEXPO AMERICA» in New York.


Delegation of National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University composed of A.V. Kotin (Director of the Institute of mechanics and power engineering), A. M. Davydkin (head of the Research Department) and A.I. Lysyakov (head of the Department of power engineering) visited the city of Zhenjiang (China) to discuss prospects for the development of cooperation with Jiangsu University of Science and Technology.


In order to expand the export of educational services, National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University took part in the International exhibition «Education and science in the Russian Federation» held in October 25 - 27, 2019 in Uralsk, the Republic of Kazakhstan, by the international educational holding company «GAUDEAMUS».


SKOLKOVO Innovation Center will host the 8th Moscow international forum of innovative development from 21 to 23 October.


Quacquarelli Symonds has released a ranking of 350 universities fitting in «Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2020» category, which included only 105 educational institutions from Russia.

Among European and Asian Universities Mordovia State University holds the 207th place, and among the Russian universities it ranks 47th , among classical universities it ranks 19th , among the universities of the Volga Federal district – it is the 8th . As per the amount of international students the University holds the 28th place (among Russian universities). 


On the 19th of September MosIUR (Moscow International University Ranking) released the list of 1200 top universities in the world in the context of three university missions. The 2019 «Three University Missions» included 74 Russian universities. Ogarev Mordovia State University was ranked 1141st among international universities, 21st among classical universities in Russia, 11th among universities of the Volga Federal District.

The Medical Institute of Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted the Knowledge Day for international students.


On 18th of September, Mordovia State University hosted International Conference entitled «Developing Trans-regional information literacy for lifelong learning and the knowledge economy». The purpose of the event is to recap on the above project, in which, the Faculty of Foreign Languages under Ogarev Mordovia State University has been involved together with international profile institutions since 2017.


The RUR rating agency, in partnership with Clarivate Analytics and with informational support from the Russia Today MIA, released the first rating of Russian universities according to RUR: Russian Universities Ranking 2019.


Students of Mordovia State University became winners of the prestigious international competition of graduation theses. It was held between July 10 and August 10 this year among graduates, master degree students, post graduate students and students of secondary specialised colleges in 18 fields and 5 nominations.


During three days of August (9-11) Imatra and Lappeenranta cities (Finland) under the aegis of Ministry of Culture and Education of Finland, South Karelian Regional Union and South-Karelian Cultural Society «Lyra» hosted an international project «The Mordovian Folk Culture» (the project coordinator from the Russian side – head of the research laboratory of the Finno-Ugric culture, professor Elena N. Lomshina).


The project «HE and VET alliance establishment according to Bologna Principals implementation via VET teachers’ capacity building (ALLVET)» aims at solving the problems in the field of vocational and high education in Russia and Kazakhstan seeking to increase the level of competences and skills in TUNING system, which targets to introduce competence approach based on the integration of the requirements of vocational professional standards and modern teaching methods.


According to the results of the competition announced by the European Union Erasmus+ programme: Jean Monnet Activities 2019, the University managed to carve out its presence in 2 EU projects. A total of 15 Russian projects were approved for funding out of 285 projects submitted. 

On 30th of July, the University signed a cooperation agreement with Shenyang Institute of Technology. 


On 9-12 of July, the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology of Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted the XIVth international conference entitled «Differential equations and their applications in mathematical modeling».

"Ignite the desire to learn and know the Russian language" – that's the mission of volunteers of the international programme "Embassadors of the Russian language in the world!" The participants of the programme go abroad to acquaint high schoolers and university students with the Russian language, culture and literature; work in Russian regions, children's centers, enhancing literacy among Russian children. 


On June 4th, 2019, the International information group «Interfax» compiled the X annual national ranking of universities. 


Students of the Faculty of Philology under N.P. Ogarev Moscow State University took part in the IX International competition «Serbia in my heart...», which was held on 16-18 of May at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Russia.

From 15 to 16 of May, Republic of Mari El hosted the VI international Finno-Ugric student forum entitled «Wealth of Finno-Ugric people». Every year, Yoshkar-Ola city gathers young people from different regions of the Russian Federation to share research findings in the field of Finno-Ugric Philology, history, archeology and culture.

In 2016, National Research Mordovia State University and Wroclaw University of Economics (Poland) negotiated an agreement on cooperation and interaction in education and science. 


From 23 to 26 of April, Mordovia State University received a delegation of teaching and auxiliary staff from I. Razzakov Kyrgyz Technical University. The visit took place in the framework of joint project of universities in the Russian-Kyrgyz consortium of technical universities, which currently consists of 8 Kyrgyz and 27 Russian universities.

On April 22, Mordovia State University launched a series of online lectures for students of Z.M. Babur Andijan State University  (Uzbekistan). 

Professor Craig S. Brandist, PhD, heads the Bakhtin Centre in Sheffield in the capacity of its Director and is a member of the organising committee of the upcoming International Bakhtin Conferences.


On March the 2nd Sports and Entertainment Centre "Platinum Arena Krasnoyarsk" will host the opening ceremony of the 29th World Winter Student Games (Universiade) 2019. The ceremony will be televised to more than 60 countries around the world.


On February 16-17, international students of the University competed with each other within the framework of Dorm Olympics (Spartakiad) devoted to the nation-wide high day of Defender of the Fatherland.


On February 8-10, the International Festival-Competition in the field of contemporary choreographic art «ZA GRANYU/BEYOND THE BOUNDS» was held in Minsk (Republic of Belarus).


1-3 February Ogarev State University hosted the International Festival-Competition as part of the project “On the Wings of Talent”.  The competition was held by the Planet of Talents Foundation which supports and promotes children's creativity in different cities of Russia. In Saransk the event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, National Policy, Tourism and Archival Affairs of the Republic of Mordovia.

Elsevier, one of the world's largest scientific publishing houses, has updated the list of Russian journals that are indexed in Scopus citation database (one of the international databases).


On 28-29 January, a delegation from Andijan State University, represented by the Rector A.S. Yuldashev, the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovations B. M. Rasulov, the Head of International Relations Department F. Sh. Alimov, paid a return visit to National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University.


18 January was the day of the final stage of international festival devoted to folklore, held annually by Chair of Russian language for international students studying natural sciences at Lomonosov Moscow State University


This year International Exhibition of Invention and Innovation was held in Paris in late November.

The organizers of the event were the French Federation of Inventors / La Fédération Française des Inventeurs, the Association «Europe France Inventors/ Europe France Inventeurs » and the Society of Friends of Gustave Eiffel under the patronage of Philippe Couperie-Eiffel, the descendant of the great French engineer Gustave Eifeel.


On December 14, the 7th International Scientific Conference of International Students «Intercultural Communication in the Modern World» was held at the Institute of International Cooperation under Penza State University.

116 people from 18 countries of the world got registered as participants of the conference: undergraduates, postgraduates and university teachers from 12 universities. Among them half a dozen of international students from Ogarev Mordovia State University who were able to win laurels in various nominations.


The opening of the festival “Vaigel (Voice)” took place in the Palace of Culture and Arts, Ogarev Mordovia State University on December 5th , 2018

The purpose of the festival is to promote the youth artistic creativity and to popularise the best practices in working with theatre groups.


15000 volunteers from all regions of Russia took part in the International Volunteer Forum held between 2nd – 5th  December in Moscow.


On 19th November, the Republican Youth Forum dedicated to the International Students’ Day was held in the Republican Palace of Culture. The social occasion was rounded off with the concert prepared for the culture festival «Ogarev coloring», an event organised by students of Mordovia State University for the sixth consecutive year.


During two days of November, 15th-16th , Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted international scientific conference entitled «The symbolic capital of the traditional culture: the experience of the past in the models of the future." The event was held by the Institute of National and Folk Culture of Ogarev Mordovia State University with the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research.


A week-long visit by Professor of Technical University of Madrid  - Slobodan Bojanic in the framework of the project «Modernisation of curricula in the sphere of smart building engineering – Green building» , Key action «Сapacity building in the sphere of higher education» ended on 17th of November. The above visit engaged the Faculty of Architecture and Construction Engineering – a unit representing Ogarev Mordovia State University in the project consortium.

Quacquarelli Symonds limited (QS) has released its latest edition of the Top University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA). The positions of the universities are based on the results of a survey of 125,000 respondents across the globe.


From the 7th to 12th of October, the German-Russian Forum of Youth Sports Exchange Organizers was held in Saint-Petersburg. The main result of the event was new partnership arrangements made between the participants of the two countries in various kinds of sports, namely the head of the sports unit of the University Student Board, Vladimir Istikhin, who represented our University at the Forum, proposed and won approval for a joint project with a badminton coach from the city of Schwanhim - Sascha Kunert. Following the project schedule the exchange of athletes will take place in 2019-2020.


National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University was granted an access with the financial support of the Russian Foundation of Fundamental Research (RFFR) to online resources of the largest publishing house Elsevier - «Freedom Collection» and collection of electronic books Freedom eBook collection, posted on the ScienceDirect platform.


In October 3rd, Ogarev Mordovia State University accepted delegates from the Consulate of the People's Republic of China who attended the University with a working visit.  Consul General - Wu Yingqin headed the delegation consisting of Consul Li Fei, and Vice-Consul Shao Li.


From 20 to 22 September N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted the IV International Scientific Conference entitled «Russian language within the context of the national culture», dedicated to the centenary since A.I. Solzhenitsyn’s birth.


September 18th lanched the 17th International Scientific Conference-school (ISCS) «Materials of nano-, micro-, optoelectronics and fibre optics: physical properties and application».


On September 12, M. Bakhtin Centre accepted a Professor of the Faculty of Literature, Art and Science of Tokyo University Waseda Masakhiko Oishi.

National Erasmus+ office in Russia has sent two his officials - Deputy Director A. A. Muravyeva and expert of the Russian Federation – Yu.N. 


In August 2018 Ministry of Science and Higher Education in cooperation with International exchange Agencies announced the results of grant competitions for oversees scholarships for students and postgraduates. Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship for academic studies at the leading universities of Hungary (for one semester) was granted to 8 students of N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University.


On August 16, M.M. Bakhtin Centre hosted a round table devoted to the preparation of the subsequent XVII international Bakhtin conference, which will be held at Mordovia State University in 2020. 


On July 16, National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University opened the VIII international scientific youth school-workshop "Mathematical modeling, numerical methods and software systems" dedicated to the memory of a famous local scholar Evgeny V. Voskresensky.


A graduate student of the Faculty of Economics of Ogarev Mordovia State University Alexander Kovalev has won one of the scholarships of the President of Russia for training abroad in the 2018/2019 academic year. The scholarship generously covers tuition, visa fees, travel costs, daily subsistence, accommodation, health insurance and local transportation. 


On 21 June scholarly library of Mordovia State University was the venue for an open lecture by one of the leading international scientists in the field of power electronics, Professor of the University of Vigo (Spain) - Jesús Doval-Gandoy. The lecture’s topic «Energy-efficient fault-tolerant multiphase electric drives».


RAEX Rating Agency (RAEX-Analytics), Moscow, compiled the 7th annual rating of top 100 Russian universities which was presented to the public within the framework of VI Forum of Leading Russian Universities entitled «Global Competitiveness». RAEX Rating Agency (Expert RA) has become the first organisation in Russia and the fourth on a global scale whose university ratings have successfully passed international audit by IREG Observatory.


Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation announced the results of the VII international competition of research works among students and postgraduates, which was attended by more than 250 students from universities and colleges in Russia and abroad. 


On 5 June, research group of Interfax and radio station "Echo of Moscow published the results of its annual Nation-wide ranking of universities 2018.


Russian geographical society has announced 15 winners of the competition for participation in the summer internship in Serbia (see the link). The best representatives of the young geographers’ community of Russia, who excelled at scientific, educational and volunteer activities, were eligible to participate in the competition. 


On May 28th, delegation of the Landtag of Thuringia (Germany) attended National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University within the official visit to the Republic of Mordovia.

 Deputy head of the fraction of Christian-democratic Union Egon Primas and the Chairman of the German-Russian friendship society in Thuringia Tilo Kummer met with the Rector of Mordovia State University Sergey M. Vdovin to discuss possibilities of cooperation in education and science.


M. M. Bakhtin Centre held an open lecture by Doctor of Philology, Professor of the University of Sao Paulo, Sheila Grillo "Translations and ideas of the Bakhtin Circle in Brazil."

The event was attended by scientists and students of National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University, as well as colleagues from K.D. Ushinsky Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University, who took part in the online discussion.


On 14th May a group of Jiangsu University (China) functionaries attended National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University. The Chinese delegation consisted of the Chairman of the Committee of Jiangsu University - Yuan Shouqi, Director, professor of Research Centre of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology, National research Centre of Pumps - Yuan Jianping, Dr., Professor of the Faculty of Management, Director of News Centre - Jin Lifu, Deputy Director of International Office, associate professor Huang Ting.


From 26th to 28th of April, 2018, Athens (Greece) was the venue for the European Biotechnology Congress. The event was held under the aegis of the European Biotechnology Association (European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association (EBTNA) and Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Greece. 


Between the 22nd and 27th of  April the Faculty of Economics of National Research Ogarev Mordova State University, a consortium partner in a number of Erasmus+ programmes, had guest lecturers from Zyud University of Applied Sciences.


On the 23rd of April Spain celebrates "El día del Libro y de la Rosa" ("The Day of Book and Rose") or " Day of the Spanish language and literature." To commemorate this event, the Faculty of Foreign Languages have invited Professor Sergio Mas Dias to deliver an open lecture on "Russian and European romanticism: the relationship of literature, music, philosophy". A polyglot, philologist and philosopher, prof. Mas Dias teaches Spanish at a university level as a course of further education and professional retraining.  


In the run-up to the admission campaign 2018, Mordovia State University took part in the XVIII international specialised Fair "Education and career EXPO 2018", which was held from 11 to 13 April in Yerevan. 


Russian credit rating agency Round University Ranking (RUR) has published an updated list of the best universities in the world. The list is based on leading universities from 74 countries.

Among international universities, as of now Mordovia State University ranks 672nd.

The University has reinforced its position in such criteria as "international activity" and "research". Among 70 Russian universities, included in the ranking, National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University ranks 27th.

On April 2, 2018, the Russian Science Foundation reviewed and assessed the applications for the extension of the project initiated in 2015. Out of 333 potential applications, heads of 240 projects have applied for extension. 220 applications have made it to the final round and only 88 projects succeeded, including two from Mordovia State University

On the 20th of March National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University launch a next scheduled training of FIFA World Cup 2018 volunteers. 


From 1 to 7 March, representatives of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction Engineering (Professor V.T. Erofeev, associate professor O.Rodina) and the Institute of Electronic and Light Engineering (associate professor N.F. Antoshkin and senior lecturer S.A. Yamashkin) passed a further training at the Research Institute of Construction Physics of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAACS).


On the 6th of March the students from Wuhan Textile University received their student IDs at the International Relations Office of National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University. Five exchange students chose the Foreign Languages Faculty in order to complete exchange education programme during a semester.


During February 24 - March 3, Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted a consortium meeting&workshop. The event is part of international Erasmus+ project entitled «Excellence in Engineering Education through Teacher Training and New Pedagogic Approaches in Russia and Tajikistan» (EXTEND). Project consortium consists of 11 higher education institutions from Latvia, Romania, Portugal, UK, Russia and Tajikistan.


On February 15, Mordovia State University was attended by Hartwig Mennen, first Chairman of Logo e.V. in order to interview and screen students of Agriculture Institute and Institute of Mechanics and Power Engineering for a work-experience internship in Germany farms.


From 13th to 16th February the international project called “Languages in socio-cultural Finno-Ugric environment” was hosted by Mordovia State University at the initiative of Research laboratory of Finno-Ugric culture under National and Folk Culture Institute together with the Faculty of Philology and Finnish participants of the project.

On 24 of January, the National Accreditation Board under National Centre for Public Accreditation, based an external review findings, approved educational programmes in 03.03.02 «Physics», 03.04.02 «Physics», 04.03.02 «Chemistry, physics and mechanics of materials», 04.05.01 «Fundamental and applied chemistry», 04.03.01 «Chemistry», 04.04.01 «Chemistry», 03.06.01 «Physics and astronomy», 04.06.01 «Chemical Sciences», taught at Mordovia State University.

National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University has finalised the screening of candidates for academic mobility programme Erasmus+ «Student Credit Mobility». 


M.M.Bakhtin Centre together with the Chair of Russian and Foreign Literature (Faculty of Philology) and the Humanities Faculty of the University of Haifa (Israel) took part in a webinar on the 19th of December.


On 12 of December, the project "Social Navigator" by media information agency (MIA) "Russia today" revealed the nation-wide ranking of sought-after Russian universities in terms of their relevance to the Russian economy.


Dean of the Economics faculty, professor Tatyana A. Salimova attended the International conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Presidential Programme of training management personnel for national economy administered by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.


During 21 - 23 of November the Institute of physics and chemistry under Mordovia State University was assessing by external international commission (EIC) examining the content and conditions of teaching its educational programmes.


During 16 - 18 of November Mordovia State University was hosting the interregional festival of cultures «Ogarev colouring», which gathered representatives of Russia’s regions and different countries of the world. This event has become a tradition for National research Mordovia State University and this year it is its 5th anniversary.

On 15 November 2017 Agriculture Institute of N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University opened the IVth international conference entitled «Mechanisms and regularities during individual development of humans and animals’ organisms (in health and disease)», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Prof.Teltsov’s birth.


The 2017 results of the QS EECA University Rankings are out now, featuring 300 of the top universities in emerging Europe and Central Asia (24 countries), extended from 200 last year. The ranking included 97 Russian Universities.

National research N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University currently occupies 157 position of the overall ranking, while among Russian universities, it is on 43.


On 2 October, international division of Student Services Office launched the bridging programme entitled «I am a student of N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University», developed  in cooperation with the International Relations Office. The course includes counseling on legal issue, meetings with University administration, getting familiar with seniour students and with each other, city sightseeing tours and an exciting ropes course.


In 2020 Saransk will accept renowned academics, pundits of Bakhtin studies from all over the world to participate in the XVII International Bakhtin conference. The venue for this event -Mordovia State University.


The beginning of the academic year coincided with the visit of the delegation from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (JUST). 


Following the results of competition announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in 2016, Mordovia State University gained access to Scopus database ( 


From 3 to 20 July 2017 the Faculty of Philology hosted the international summer courses in Finnish language and culture funded by Finnish National Agency for education under the Ministry of Education of Finland (grant title «Development of the syllabus and teaching the course Finnish language and culture».


The XIII international scientific conference "Differential equations and their applications in mathematical modelling" was opened in July, 12 on the premises of Mordovia State University The event has got together a variety of scientists from different countries of the world: France, England, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Romania, Azerbaijan, Poland. The geography of participants from other cities of Russia was also extensive: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Saransk, Ulyanovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Penza, Sarov, Kazan, Sterlitamak, Ufa, Arkhangelsk, Perm, Obninsk, Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Samara.


Bachelor degree programme students specialising in Philology, academic profile "Foreign Philology (Hungarian/Finnish, English languages and literature)" apply and win on a regular basis fellowships granted within the Programme of kindred nations by the Ministry of Education of Finland. The fellowship allows a successful applicant to go through a language training at a leading Finish university.

National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University to further cooperation with the Academy of Runosong (Finland)

On 27 April Rector Sergey M. Vdovin was scheduled to meet with Professor of biotechnology Nikolay Zhelev from Abertay University, Dundee, Scotland. The meeting was devoted to the prospects of scientific cooperation in the field of biotechnology.


April of 2017 marked the presentation of the book entitled «The Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union» at the University of Milan which was published in English in the Hague by «Eleven International Publishing”.

The Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir D. Volkov had a business meeting with the University scholars and functionaries involved in the project on SiC single-crystals growth. The meeting was attended by V. V. Chybirkin, Chairman of the Mordovian State Assembly; A. I. On 9 March - 100 days before the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017- most of the host cities of the 2018 FIFA World Cup held festive events.

On February 18-19 Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted a remarkable sports event – Dorm Olympics (Spartakiad) for international students, dedicated to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland. The event was organised by the Students’ Union of the University, the Union of international students, the students’ athletics club "Ogaryovets", International Relations Office, the regional branch of the National Interethnic Youth Association.


On January 26 Ogarev Mordovia State University accepted the guests from the Republic of Burundi - the seniour economic adviser to the second Vice-president of Burundi, Dr. Muaz Sagamba and the director of the “Capad” company - Sezibera Annik.


In the run-up to the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia™, the Centre for Linguistic Training of Volunteers and Auxiliary Staff based at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Ogarev Mordovia State University supported the Volunteer project "Together to the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia™."


In the beginning of December (5-6) Moscow State National Research University of Civil Engineering held first coordination meeting of the Erasmus+ project «Modernisation of the Curricula in sphere of smart building engineering - Green Building (GREB)». One of the Consortium member - N.P.Ogarev Mordovia State National Research University was represented by Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction Engineering – Vladimir T. Erofeev and Head of International Relations Office – Natalia Sh. Vatolkina.


N.P.Ogarev Mordovia State National Research University became the winner of the contest that grants the University library a licensed access to international electronic resources. The competition was announced and administered by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.


December the 5th opened a nation-wide conference with international participation "The integrated approach to English language teaching for non-linguistic specialties". During three days the Faculty of Foreign Languages was the venue for the instructors of Russian universities and teachers of Saransk secondary schools who packed master classes and workshops on modern teaching methodology.


In November, 21-25, the Master’s degree students in the field of "Management" with concentration on "Entrepreneurship for sustainable development" were crowding into lecture halls to attend classes on "International entrepreneuship and investment". The classes were offered by Doctor of economics, professor of Belgrade Banking Academy under Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijic" of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the World Bank expert - Darko Vukovic. For two consecutive years Darko works within his fixed-term employment contract with the Faculty of Economics, Chair of Quality Management. This series of lectures is continuation of his contractual duties.


In November 24-25, Institute of Medicine of Mordovia State National research University hosted the international conference «Periodontics for practitioners». The conference objective was to raise professional level of knowledge among students specialising in «Dentistry» as well as practicing physicians with higher medical education.


During a week in November 6 - 13, the Dean of the Law faculty, head of Chair of International and European law Yulia N. Sushkova read a series of lectures to students and teachers of one of the oldest universities in Europe – University Babes-Bolyai (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) in the framework of the European programme of academic mobility Erasmus+. Professor Yulia Sushkova gave talks on the following topics: "Eurasianism: on the way to "Bigger Europe" from Lisbon to Vladivostok", "the legal status of Finno-Ugric people in the Russian Federation", "Leo Tolstoy’s ideas on legislation of a state and protection of religious rights."


During two days from November 14 to November 16 N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State National Research University was staging the final coordination meeting of the universities - participants of the international project MetaMath, implemented in the framework of the European TEMPUS programme.

The University brought together scholars and functionaries of European universities and research organisations such as German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (GRCAI – DFKI), Saarland University (Germany), Tampere University of Technology (Finland), Claude Bernard Lyon University (France); Russian universities were represented by (Kazan State National Research Technical University, N.I. Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University, Tver State University. The opening ceremony for the XV International scientific conference «Materials of nano-, micro-, optoelectronics and fiber optics: physical properties and appliance» took place at Mordovia State University on 11 October.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Rector Sergey M. Vdovin, in his welcoming speech, stressed that this conference was held at a special time: the global scientific community celebrates the 100th anniversary of the outstanding physicist, winner of the 1964 Nobel Prize - A. M. Prokhorov.


Students of the Institute of Electric and Lighting engineering took part in the First International Forum «Industrial Automation and Robotics» which was held on 5-8 October in Saratov as part of the National Science Festival.


ISU Junior Grand Prix is an international figure skating competition that was hosted in Saransk. The competition itself lasted 3 days during which young figure-skaters from Australia, the US, China, Austria, Italy, Cyprus, Croatia, Turkey, France, Finland, Poland, Bulgaria, Russia (32 countries in total) had been showing their skills. Volunteer Centre of FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia™ was a co-organizer of this event.


Galin Tikhanov gave lectures in the framework of Bakhtin days on 12-13 September. Mr. Tikhanov holds PhD from Oxford University, Head of the Chair of Comparative Literature at Queen Mary University of London, an honorary President of the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA), an honorary scientific consultant of the Academy of Social Sciences of China, a member of the executive committee of the Institute of World Literature at Harvard University, a member of the European Academy.


Institute of Medicine under Mordovia State University hosted a ceremonial event dedicated to Knowledge day for international students. Rector Sergey M. Vdovin, Director of the Institute Larisa A. Balykova and the Head of International Office Natalia Sh. Vatolkina congratulated the students on their introduction to student life.


On 1 September the delegation from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (JUST) attended the University to meet the Rector Sergey M. Vdovin. The parties signed an agreement on implementation of a joint Master’s degree programme in «Heat power engineering and heat technology».


From 17 July to 3 August Faculty of Foreign Languages of the National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted a Summer school entitled «Russian as a foreign language: practical course». This Summer school was intended for everyone wishing to learn Russian language thus helping to popularise it in other countries and to establish friendly relations between Ogarev Mordovia State University and universities from other countries. Students from the USA, China and Serbia were the very first participants of the Summer school.

According to the results of the Erasmus+ grants competition, the scientist of Ogarev Mordovia State University have won two Jean Monnet programme grants, two Capacity Building programme grants, one proposal was successful in Erasmus+ Key Action 3: Youth in Action and three projects were supported within academic mobility grants Erasmus+ Credit Mobility.


XVth International ethocultural expedition-festival «Volga - the world’s river. Dialogue of the Volga peoples’ cultures» took place from June 30 to 4 July. The main objective of the project was to establish a dialogues between the government and public organisations in order to safeguard culture, language and traditions and strengthening the spiritual unity of peoples of Russia.


The forum of Rectors of Russian and Chinese universities took place in Moscow on July 5th and brought to light the declaration establishing the Association of Russian and Chinese universities.


On 23 June, Rector of N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University Sergey M. Vdovin took part in the international Congress «Science and engineering education 2016» held at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.


On June 14, the updated international QS Universities rankings EECA (Emerging Europe&Central Asia) 2016 were issued, which assesses universities in 25 countries of Europe and Central Asia.

The authors of the rankings took into account data for 5 last years applying 9 criteria: academic reputation (more than 77000 academic experts were interviewed); reputation among employers (more than 44000 employers expressed their opinions on strengths and flaws of graduates, proportion of teaching staff and students; proportion of international teaching staff and researchers; proportion of international students, publication activity of the teaching staff; citation rate of publications; proportion of teaching staff with an academic degree; efficiency of the Internet resources (according to Webometrics rankings).

Based on the above Ogarev Mordovia State University is positioned among the universities that go from 151 to 200.


The Joint International Laboratory LIA “LICS” between France, Russia and Ukraine on “Critical and supercritical phenomena in functional electronics, acoustics and fluidics” is a new project for period 2013-2016, with enlarged and strongly renewed scientific scope. It is constructed on the core part of the partnership established during the 1995 – 2012 years, but presents slight evolutions of the members in accordance with the new scientific programme.


On May 16 Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted the nation-wide (with international participation) conference - «Biological aspects of dissemination, adaptation and resistance of plants». As follows from the title the conference discussed plants’ dissemination, adaptation and resistance to unfavorable factors.


On May 12, the representatives of the Office of English language under the US Embassy in Moscow Gerald Frank (attaché for culture and education) and Elena Lubnina (officer of the Department of English language) visited Mordovia State University. The aim of their visit was to discuss the participation of the University in the international programme FELLOWS. According to the terms of the programme, a teacher of English will be employed by the University throughout the academic year of 2016/2017.nThe office of English language offers only highly-qualified instructors of English that is why many Russian universities enjoy the programme.


The International exhibition and forum ECOTECH organised by the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation took place in Russia April 26 through 29, 2016 at one of the most modern fairgrounds Crocus Expo IEC.


As part of the project “Lifelong education without dimension: opportunities in the Russian-European integration (LED)” Economics Faculty held a roundtable session on «Lifelong education for sustainable development» on 12 April. The project is supported by the EU programme Jean Monnet (Erasmus+) which is aimed at advancing research in sphere of education and European integration.


On 7 April the results of the Round University Ranking 2016 were issued. 700 universities from 74 different countries (among them were 22 Russian universities) were assessed. Mordovia State University moved upward 72 positions and rose from last year’s place of 646 to 574 in Overall Ranking. Also, the University improved its positions in such areas as «Research» and «International Activities». Among the Russia’s universities Mordovia State University has settled down on 16th place.


10th conference in the series of annual conferences dedicated to “Parallel computing technologies” (PCT development and use of parallel computing technologies in various fields of science) took place in M.V. Lomonosov North (Arctic) Federal University in Arkhangelsk at the beginning of April.


On 31 March 2016 Institute of Further Education launched a project «English language courses for government officials» within the framework of preparations for FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia. The courses will be taught by the specialists of the Centre for Professional International Communication.

On 29 March Information and situation centre of Mordovia State University hosted the information meeting "European educational programmes – new opportunities". The meeting was held in the framework of the EU project "Enhancing the attractiveness of European higher education in the world".

Association of Leading Russian Universities and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). will jointly develop and implement a support programme for young scientists from Russia and Germany within the next 4 years. It was the topic of cooperation agreement signed on 23 March, 2016 in Moscow by the Rector of St. Petersburg State University Nikolai Kropachev and the President of DAAD - Margaret Wintermantel. The signing procedure was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries – Sergey Lavrov and Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Ogarev Mordovia State University is one of the co-founders of the above Association.


In March 2013 Ogarev Mordovia State University entered the consortium of a joint Russian-European project «Meta-Math», which is implemented in the framework of the TEMPUS programme. The project code is 543851-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPCR Modern Educational Technologies for Math Curricula in Engineering Education of Russia.


On February 25, Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology announced the results of the open nationwide competition for the right to receive licensed access to international science&research databases.


One of the student from Turkmenistan, a 4-year full time undergraduate-philologist Surai Seyidova has become a runner-up of the 5th Online Festival of Friendship “In the World of Russian Literature” hosted annually by Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Festival is an online contest in which international students demonstrate their knowledge of Russian culture and their creative talents.


During the Information Day held on 28 January by International relations office, the audience was presented with available international scholarships for postgraduate students.


During 3 day, 20-22 January, experts of the Certification Association "Russian Register" were carrying out the compliance audit of the quality management system of Mordovia State University as to the requirements of international standard ISO 9001:2008 and regional standard GOST ISO 9001-2011.


Under the aegis of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and Rospatent, N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University has launched Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC).


On the 4th of December, the Rector of N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University Sergey Vdovin met welcomed the Professor from the University of Siena (Italy) Maurizio Pompella. From the 30th of November Maurizio Pompella was hired as a visiting Professor to the faculty of economics.

The meeting with Maurizio was attended by corresponding officials: Vice-Rector for academic studies Alina Y. Maslova, head of the international relations office - Natalia Sh. Vatolkina, head of the Chair of Finance and Credit -Vladimir Mitrokhin.

Two students from N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University have applied and won the scholarships to study in Hungary in 2016 academic year (length of study 10 months). The winners - Tatiana Kachkalova and Valentina Polkina – will be enrolled in Erasmus Mundus Masters courses held in the University of Szeged (Hungary).

The EBTNA’s president, Prof. Munis Dunbar spoke on the current state of biotechnology and European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association. Among the facts that are worth quoting are these: biotechnology is, along with information technology, the biggest-growth industry in the 21st century, with 22 million citizens employed in Europe alone, in a €1,5Tn industry, the scale of which may never have existed before. 

During two days in September, 21 - 22 the Faculty of Law under Mordovia State University was hosting the international scientific conference «Co-operation between Russia and Greece: challenges and prospects». The event was attended by scholars and students of the Law Faculty.


On August the 4th Mordovia State University hosted a delegation from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (JUST) consisted of Prof. Huang Jin – Vice-President, Prof. Yan Xinglin – Dean, Energy and power engineering department; Prof. Tang Yubing – Head of Academic affairs department, Prof. Wang Zhi – Head of development and planning department, Chen Ye – international department officer.


The European Union has announced the results of the competition within the Jean Monnet Activities 2015 (ERASMUS PLUS). Three proposals from research teams of the Economics faculty of Moscow State University were recognised successful.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has presented the results of the third annual ranking of universities. Evaluation of universities was based on eight criteria: opinion of the academic community, employers, the ratio of faculty members and students, the percentage of scientific papers per teaching staff, the citation index, the proportion of international teaching staff to domestic one, the proportion of international students to domestic ones, the proportion of teachers holding a scientific degree to those without a degree.


June 30, N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted another group of Chinese officials: Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Wuhan Textile University, Professor Liu Gongcheng, Dean of the Faculty of foreign languages, He Wei and Deputy Director of the international office Ms.Zhang Xia.


June 18, the Russian Science Foundation announced the results of the call under the category «Research in small groups supervised by leading Russian or foreign scientists». More than 300 research teams submitted their proposals of which the Board of experts selected 56 best.

From May 25 to June 13, the Faculty of Philology hosted a regular group of American students from College of Charleston (SC, USA) who chose Mordovia State University as a place of Russian language practice.

In May 2015 the scholars of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology headed by Dean V. V. Revin attended European Congress on biotechnology, held in Bucharest (Romania), under the auspices of the European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association, EBTNA.


April 23 at Ogarev Mordovia State University saw the beginning of the II international conference "Natural hazards: the interplay between science and practice". An important event of the first day of the conference was the opening of the innovative educational Centre for exploitation of outer-space data.


The ХVII International student festival of advertising hosted by Moscow University for the Humanities, was held on 15 – 17 April. Since 2008, students of Ogarev Mordovia State University, majoring in «Advertising» and «Advertising and public relations» degree programmes have begun to attend this event.

21st of March is a traditional holiday in Iran, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Yemen, some parts of India, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan etc. which celebrates the New Year and the coming of Spring. The celebration was held at N.P.Ogarev Mordovia State University on the premises of the newspaper «Voice of Mordovia University».


10-12 March, the head of International Relations Office, N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University Natalia Sh. Vatolkina attended the workshop held at the University of Istanbul (Turkey) as an expert in the reform of higher education within the ERASMUS+ programme.
The workshop «Higher education, vocational education&training in the ERASMUS+ partner countries neighbouring the EU: partnership for socio-economic development" was attended by over 200 experts, representatives of the European Commission, the European Training Foundation, representatives of ministries and agencies from 27 countries of the world.

On February 25th N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University held an international workshop "Organisation of inclusive education for students with special needs". Faculty of Foreign Languages and History and Sociology Institute presented a project on inclusive education, prepared jointly with international specialists. The visiting experts from Armenia and Ireland shared their experience of such projects in the neighboring countries and the EU countries.


On the 3rd of February, coordinators and participants of the TEMPUS international project «Entrepreneurs for tomorrow» attended N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University. Apart from European partners the project draws on best practices from three Russian universities - Mordovia State University, Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Samara State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering – in their attempt to set up a new Master programme for sustainable (P-P-P) entrepreneurship in the Volga Basin region.


January 19 the shooting team, headed by a well-known Russian TV journalist from TV channel «Russia 1» Sergey Brilyov attended Saransk to videotape material for the film about the Republic of Mordovia. TV project "Federation" initiated by Sergey Brilyov and Tatyana Remezova as a series of video plots about the Russia’s regions, their unique experience and achievements in economics, health care or social sphere will feature Mordovia this time.

In December, 18-19th international students of N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University attended the IIIrd Intercollegiate Conference «Cross-cultural Communication in the Modern World», organized by Penza State University in cooperation with the Association of International Students from Penza oblast (Penza).

November 20 through December 4 Mordovia State University hosted the 3rd stage of the visiting International scientific expedition «Tradition and ritual culture of the Mordovian people». The agenda for the expedition was a joint initiative by the research laboratory of the Finno-Ugric Culture, Institute of National and Folk Culture of N.P.Ogarev Mordovia State University and the Department of Finno-Ugric Studies, Lorand Eötvös University (Budapest, Hungary).

JEP TEMPUS «Metamath», an smart abbreviation for Modern Educational Technologies for Math Curricula in Engineering, launched in March 2014, undertakes to improve the quality of teaching mathematics in engineering disciplines, using STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics instruments.


In the framework of the JEP TEMPUS "Enhancement of Russian creative education: new Master program in Digital Arts in line with EU standards [ENMDA] teaching staff from Ogarev Mordovia State University and Teesside University (Middlesbrough) are working to develop a curriculum and syllabi for dual degree programme. The purpose of the visit of Mordovian scholars to Teesside University was to coordinate the development of the above academic instruments. The Chair of Design and Advertising commissioned two its members Yulia Goryunova and Roman Piskunov. During the 10-day stay, they also studied the experience of teaching master programmes at Teesside University.

On 25 - 26 October Beijing (People's Republic of China) hosted the 14th international educational exhibition China Education Expo 2014 under the patronage of the Chinese Educational Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). The exhibition was attended by more than 300 universities from 46 countries. Mordovia State University joined the Russian delegation, which was composed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.


On 7 October N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University opened the VIII international (XIX Nation-wide) conference on automated electric drive. The conference organisers are a National research university - Mordovia State University (Faculty of electronic engineering), Academy of electrotechnical Sciences of the Russian Federation, Association of electric drive engineers, National research university - Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.


On 2 October Mordovia State University and Institute of National and Folk Culture welcomed at home representatives of kindred nations - Finnish scholars Pekka Huttu-Hiltunen, Director of Runosong Academy (Kuhmo, Finland) and Maari Kallberg. Guests met the leadership of Mordovia State University - President of the University, Vice-Rectors, deputy heads of departments in charge of music and choral singing to discuss and sign an agreement on cooperation.
In his welcome speech, President of the University Nikolay P. Makarkin has emphasised the significance of the visit reminding to all in attendance that Finno-Ugric studies is one of the key strength of the University science and is one of the priority research fields ensuring the University’s world image.


Ogarev Mordovia State University have joined the group of Russian universities which provide instruction in English in certain academic courses. On 15 September Institute of Medicine announced the commencement of studies in the course on «General Medicine».
First 60 applicants from India and Iraq have challenged the University’s teaching staff who had developed this programme’s teaching materials in line with specific requirements. Curriculum and courses’ syllabi have been profoundly revised to provide learning opportunities that introduce, develop and reinforce academic and technical knowledge, skills and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention and advancement.


A group of enthusiastic students from N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University will continue the study of the Chinese language in the summer school hosted by Wuhan Textile University, China from 4 through 20 of August.

During their stay in China students are supposed to further their knowledge of the Chinese language interacting with peer students from Wuhan Textile University. Summer school is a reward to students who have studied Chinese during the academic year here at Mordovia State University. The trip was inspired by the teacher of Chinese from Wuhan Textile University invited to Saransk as a cultural exchange visitor in September 2013.


On July 9, Indian students from Penza State University specialising in General Medicine attended N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University.
Driven by desire to compare and contrast Indian students flooded the local community of international students with questions about everyday life at student hostels, academic studies, how one can observe national traditions, how to celebrate holidays, etc. Then the guests went on an excursion to Saransk sights.


The international conference «The Development of the EU Eastern Partnership Cooperation from Capacity to Excellence: Strengthening Research, Regional and Innovation Policy in the Context of Horizon 2020» was organised by Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of the University of Latvia, and was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and the European Commission. The Conference took place in Riga and Jūrmala on June 11-13, 2014. Mordovia State University was represented by the Dean of the Law faculty – Yulia N. Sushkova.


«Expert RA» rating agency drafted the third annual Russian higher school rating on the initiative and with support of Oleg Deripaska’s ‘Freedom Cause’ Foundation.
Higher school rating by ‘Expert RA’ reflects the integral assessment of the quality of training of higher school graduates, which is determined by the statistic parameters of educational, research and development activities of higher schools and the qualitative features representing the opinion of key reference groups: employers, representatives of the academic and scientific community, higher school students and graduates.


European Biotechnology Congress 2014 was organized by European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association and the Unversita Del Salento between 15 – 18 May 2014. Among scholars from Russia invited to attend this scientific event was a group of researchers from Mordovian Centre for Biotechnologies, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology of Ogarev Mordovia State University: Viktor Revin, Dean of Faculty of Biotechnology and Biology, seniour lecturers from Chair of Biotechnology Elena Liyaskina, Nelly Atykyan, Svetlana Ibragimova.


For two days, 3 - 4 May, Taicang (China), has arrested attention of race walking fans where they kept track of IAAF World Race Walking Cup.
After a bronze and silver medal at the past two IAAF World Championships, Anisya Kirdyapkina, a Master’s degree student of Mordovia State University, finally climbed to the top of the podium at the 2014 IAAF World Race Walking Cup.


On 30th of April Mordovia State University held the first Science Slam - a scientific talk where scientists present their own scientific research work in a given time frame in front of a non-expert audience. The focus lies on teaching current science to a diverse audience in an entertaining way. A science slam is a form of science communication, a relatively new project aimed at furtherance of science appeal among a wider public.


On the 3rd of March Mrs.Liu Hui - a teacher of Chinese language from Wuhan Textile University, hired by the Chair of English language for professional communication of N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University was invited to the opening ceremony of the exhibition «Chinese Ritual and Music - A special Exhibition of Shang and Zhou Bronze Ware in the collection of Hubei Provincial Museum held at A. S. Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. For the inaugural exhibition, Hubei Provincial Museum, that is among the top ten best museums in China, selected over 116 pieces of exhibits of a very unique Chinese culture, which were created during the reign of the Shang (1600 - 1050 BC) and Zhou (1050 - 256 BC) Dynasty and characterised the Bronze Age. Liu Hui has been working as a volunteer for this Museum for 10 years and currently passes her knowledge and love of Chinese culture to the University teaching staff and students. The exhibition closes on 10th of April, 2014, do not miss the opportunity to behold one of the most ancient civilisations in the world!


On 25 of January Mordovia State university will host a seminar entitled «From policies to projects. Funding opportunities for Russian Higher Education Institutions in the framework of the Erasmus plus programme».
The keynote speaker is Mario De Martino, Erasmus Mundus and Jean Monnet project coordinator.
The seminar aims to give an overview of the funding opportunities for Russian Higher Education institutions in the framework of the Erasmus plus programme with a special focus on the Jean Monnet programme and providing some theoretical notions which could help the potential applicants in preparing their project proposal.

The Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay arrived on the 9 January in the Republic of Mordovia. A relay of 205 torchbearers covered 37.5 km on the streets of Saransk. Special train delivered the Lamp with the Olympic flame in the early afternoon to Saransk from Nizhny Novgorod, where the Relay city stage had ended the day before. After some welcoming words, the first Saransk torchbearer, 2004 Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports for Greco-Roman Wrestling, Alexei Mishin, set off with the Flame on a journey through the streets of the capital of the Republic of Mordovia.

There are many things that bring us together: the complementarity and interdependence of our economies, the objective indivisibility of European security, extensive human contacts and common cultural roots. The fact that European culture in the broad sense spans the area to the Pacific coast is definitely Russia's historic achievement.

To all it may concern! The course in Chinese language is under way. This was made possible owing to the bilateral agreement between Mordovia State University and Wuhan Textile University. A native speaker from School of Foreign Languages (China), Professor Liu Hui has responded to the request of Mordovia State University and chosen Saransk as her destination in application of her efforts to disseminate knowledge of China and its language across Saransk and far beyond. The course will last 6 months and cover various sides of China’s culture, history and geography through Chinese language.

On 26 November АККОRК Accreditation Council following external independent evaluation of education quality and education quality assurance presented in reviewers’ reports has issued two accreditation certificates for two core academic programmes of N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University: 221400.62 «Quality Management» and 240700.62 «Biotechnology».

On 22-23 November Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted a festival of cultures «Ogarev’s colours», Half a thousand international students studying at Ogarev Mordovia State University and universities across Russia attended the event. Guests of the festivals were foreign students from Penza and Mari state universities.

On 2nd October the University accepted the Finnish delegation headed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Finland to Russia Mr. Hannu Himanen. During his official visit to the Republic of Mordovia Mr. Himanen got acquainted with the research potential of the University.

September, 26, 2013 witnessed the visit of the Finish delegation composed of Jukka Matikainen, director of New Factory company and a representative of a public body, Director for Innovation and Foresight, Council of Tampere Region – Mr. Petri Räsänen.

September 6, 2013 was marked by another official event that crowned the week of delegations: after French and Finnish delegations the University was attended by a Chinese University officials.

On 4 September, the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University launched the first laboratory in Russia to investigate thin-film coatings deposited on nanotechnology of atomic-layer deposition (ALD - atomic layer deposition).

 Monday 2 September 2012 was a red letter day for technical training in the Institute of Mechanics and Power Engineering, Ogarev Mordovia State University with the launch of the Institute/GNFA (Groupement National pour la Formation Automobile) automotive training partnership. Many dignitaries were on hand: Chairman of the republican government - Vladimir Sushkov, Rector of Mordovia State University - Sergey Vdovin, Head of GNFA International department - Patrice Martin, GNFA-Russia executive – Sergey Klochkov and other guests. 

20 km women's race walk gathered 62 athletes. The Olympic champion and World record holder Yelena Lashmanova (a student of Biology faculty), European medallist Vera Sokolova and World medallist Anisya Kirdyapkina (a student of Economics faculty) were in the second group, but by the 11th km they caught the leaders. Little by little Lashmanova and Kirdyapkina started to get away. Lashmanova entered the Arena first, but mistakenly stopped after crossing the finish line, while she had to do another lap. She resumed walking and finished first - 1:27:09! Kirdyapkina placed second - 1:27:11. The bronze was won by China's Liu Hong - 1:28:10.

International youth forum “Seliger” originated in 2005 in Tver Oblast where it has been held since that time. 2010 was the year the forum went international – attracting highly motivated, highly qualified young leaders from across the world. Each year inspiring young people and speakers gather deep in Russia’s forests, at the picturesque setting of Lake Seliger. This year’s forum had 3 sessions: Forum of youth projects, Business forum and Civil forum. The Russian President Vladimir Putin traditionally paid a visit to “Seliger”.

EU approves 2 of 5 applications for grants submitted by Mordovian scholars within the Jean Monnet LLP call for proposals 2013 in the field of European Integration Studies. Doctor of Economics, Prof. Nadezhda D. Guskova has headed the project entitled “Lifelong Education for Sustainable Development”. The project empowers the University to host an international conference.

11 July 2013 Ogarev Mordovia State University hosted a delegation from JUST - Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (China) headed by Prof. Yang Xing Lin, Dean of the School of Energy&Power Engineering. Chinese colleagues came to probe for fields of potentials collaboration.

On 9 July 2013 Mordovia State University hosted a joint delegation from PVA TePla (Germany) and Swedish Norstel AB. The visit’s objective is to discuss a new phase of collaboration over the project "Synthesis and processing of SiC monocrystals” originated by Ogarev Mordovia State University within the programme of University development as a national research-intensive university.

On June 3, 2013 Mordovia State University hosted a round-table discussion with an international participation devoted to the problems of study, revival, safeguard and operation of traditional (including musical) culture of Finno-Ugric and other nations in the contemporary scientific and educational environment.

Head of International Office Natalia Sh. Vatolkina made a visit to China as a member of delegation composed of Russian universities dignitaries. The delegation mission was to encourage Chinese school-leavers to get education in Russian institutions of higher education and enter into bilateral or multilateral agreements with Chinese universities.

Since October 2011 the Faculty of Foreign Languages on behalf of Mordovia State University has been running the EU JEP under Tempus IV programme entitled "Promoting sustainable excellence in testing and assessment of English". Under this project Mordovia State University is the co-ordinator of consortium of Russian HEIs embracing 11 academic institution of higher education: National Association of Teachers of English in Russia, Press Office of Cambridge University Press in Moscow, Russian Ministry of Education and Science and many others. The grantholder is Bedfordshire University (UK). Foreign partners’ consortium is composed of the University of Southampton (UK), University of South Bohemia (Chech Republic) and Technical university of Dresden (Germany) and many others.


2nd International contest "Miss Finno-Ugria" will be held in Saransk in the end of March 2013. This annual event is traditionally held among full-time students representing universities-members of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities: Mari State University; N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University; Petrozavodsk State University; Syktyvkar State University; Udmurt State University; Yugra State University; University of Eastern Finland; University of West Hungary.

Representatives of PVA TePla AG (Germany) attended Mordovia State University by invitation of the university administration. The objective of the visit: negotiations for implementation of the joint project "Synthesis and processing of SiC monocrystalline crystals".


In accordance with the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) order № 4245-06 from 26.11.2012 the Federal State Budgetary Academic Institution of Higher Education “N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University” was announced the winner in the nation-wide competition “Quality Systems of Training Graduates at HEIs in the nomination “Recognized Excellence”.


Republic of Mordovia was ranked top first by the Foundation “Saint-Petersburg Politics” in the rating of stable development based on the results of December 2012.

Positive factors that have impacted the rating of Mordovia, were, above all, frequent references of Vladimir Putin to the experience of the Republic at his annual press conference. Also, economic events do matter! They are: announcing of the project dealing with furniture manufacture with the European holding company Nowy Styl Group engaged, an agreement with LLC "Zernoprodukt +" to build a hi-tech complex processing of grain, the discussion with the Hungarian KESZ (KEC) about creation of the enterprise to be engaged in manufacture of metal structures and finally, launching of plainface cast plant in the Chamzinsky district.

On 29 September the long-awaited news that Saransk from a pretender city turned into one of the host cities of the 2018 World Championship in Soccer was announced. During the live television coverage 4000 soccer aficionados were watching in anticipation at the local Ice Arena where a huge LCD monitor had been installed. Approximately 500 Mordovian students headed by the Rector, Sergey M.Vdovin were also there and rejoiced at the news.

On 25 of September Rector of Ogarev Mordovia State University and Director of Ecole Centrale de Lille Etienne Craye entered into the agreement on academic co-operation. The parties had arranged to affix their signatures to the agreement during the international conference entitled @Innovations in higher education and co-operation with research institutions incorporated by French National Centre for Research@ (CNRS). During the meeting the parties exchanged basic facts on academic institutions and discussed scientific fields where joint research can be carried out.

According to the recent edition of the reference book entitled “Best academic programmes of innovative Russia”, ten such programmes are offered by Ogarev Mordovia State University. Among them are Applied mathematics and IT, Russian regional studies, General medical treatment, Economics, Business Information Technology, Tourism/Hospitality management, Hotel business, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering.

5-7 September Poznan University of Technology from Poland hosted the XVth international conference on quality management «QMOD Conference on Quality and Service Sciences ICQSS 2012». More than 200 members of academic staff from 27 countries attended the event. Russia was represented by 5 delegates of which three are staff of Mordovian State University including Dr., Prof. Tatyana Salimova - dean of the Economics Faculty and two graduate studies students from the Chair of Quality Management: N.A. Novokreshchenova and E.K. Leshchankina.

On 10-14 September Sevastopol (Ukraine) became the venue for the International conference “MCS-2012” devoted to the commemoration of N.G. Chetaev and V.M. Matrosov, two prominent Russian scholars in the fields of analytic mechanics, theory of stability and related fields of pure and applied mathematics, in particular, qualitative theory of differential equations, mechanics, mathematical modelling and control.

On 8-9 September 2012 Saransk will be hosting the famous intellectual game “What? Where? When?” a competitive version of one the most popular TV programmes in Russia. 26 teams from CIS, USA, Israel, UK, Germany and Baltic states will attempt to win the game. Altogether 14 states will be attended.

On 29 August Assembly of European Regions (AER)’ secretary general Pascal Goergen visited Ogarev Mordovia State University to make necessary preparations for the upcoming visit of AER’s delegation to the Republic of Mordovia. Secretary general had a few meetings with the Rector Sergey M. Vdovin and students where he made a presentation of AER’s scope of activities and opportunities of possible partnerships.


Sergey Kirdyapkin, a graduate of Physics and Chemistry Institute, won the 50km race walk in record time in London. Under hot sun in the British capital, Sergey timed an Olympic record of 3hrs 35min 59sec on this distance.

Yelena Lashmanova, an undergraduate of Biology Faculty, won gold in the Olympic women's 20 kilometres walk in a world record time of one hour 25 minutes two seconds.

Her teammate Olga Kaniskina took the silver seven second behind after being overtaken by Lashmanova in the final few metres having led from the start.

On 14 June upon completion of the Lappeenranta Forum on European innovative ecosystem, the rector representing Ogarev Mordovia State University, Sergey M. Vdovin and his vis-à-vis, the rector of Lappeenranta University of Technology Ilkka Pöyhönen signed an agreement on co-operation.


 «Interfax» and broadcasting station «Echo of Moscow» have published the rating of Russian HEIs. In 2011 apart from so called classical-type universities, the regular rating included 29 research universities. Ogarev Mordovia State University goes shares the 23rd-24th positions with Irkutsk University of Technology and it enjoyes the 19th-20th places among research universities.

Senate’s meeting held 29 May, discussed the Programme to shape and advance the values of a healthy lifestyle among students and staff.
