TALENT IN A FOREIGN WAY: HOBBIES AND LIFE OF A STUDENT FROM VIETNAM

Do Duc Hiep is a student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. He came to study at MRSU fr om Vietnam, an Asian country with ancient history and culture. At first he wanted to become a doctor, but then he realized that he was more interested in studying linguistics. More details in the Interview with Yaroslava Pangaeva.

— Tell us about yourself. Wh ere are you from? What are your interests?

- I come from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, which has many centuries-old architectural monuments, beautiful lakes and Buddhist pagodas. At the same time, crowded with people and overloaded with cars and motorcycles. In general, Hanoi is unique, and I love it.

I came to Russia to study medicine, but then I realized that I had made the wrong choice and choes linguistics. Studying at a medical institute is a difficult process that requires strong mental and emotional stress. In addition, I have quite a lot of different interests (football, powerlifting, playing the accordion, traveling, drawing), which are difficult to combine with studying to become a doctor. Linguistics is more about creativity, excursions and tourism, maintaining your own blog on the Internet.

-We saw you participation at the «Ogarevsky Colors» and «Tatyana's Day» festivals.

- Yes, I performed on them with an accordion. I am very impressed by the talents of Russian students. One day I saw young tourists from Russia in my city playing the accordion, so I decided to learn how to play a musical instrument that is unusual for the Vietnamese. It was only beneficial: hand motor skills became more developed, memory improved. In addition, I was born in a family with an artistic background, so I am close to this atmosphere.

— Are there any difficulties in your student life?

- No. I’m an optimist. All problems for me are a chance to become better. I had to change my lifestyle in order to adapt and get used to Russian conditions and traditions. The advantage of studying abroad is that we can get acquainted with the cultures of different countries. Knowledge is limitless, and I am happy that I study in Russia.

I want to speak Russian fluently. The Vietnamese language, unlike Russian, is characterized by a peculiar dynamics of speech, and the phonetic composition of my native language is much richer than that of Russian.

— Your advice for our international students.

- I don’t dare give advice, because perhaps I’m not at the age to advise anyone on anything, but I would like to wish you to gain experience in everything in order to use it in your future life. Persistence and patience are also the keys to solving any problem.
