Introduction
The Economics Institute is an authoritative and trustworthy provider of economic education in the Russian Federation, which, as part of the National Research Mordovia State University, annually enters Top 50 leading universities in Russia in the field of Economics and Management (Expert RA rating), occupies high positions in the nation-wide ranking of universities offering core degree programmes in the academic specialism «State and municipal administration».
The Institute has 68 full-time lecturers. Among them - 18 are holders of Higher Doctorate degree and 48 are PhD holders. Leading specialists from business and government agencies are invited to learning as guest-lecturers. The Institute is constantly working to improve the quality of human resources. The academic and research personnel employed by the Institute are able to solve scientific problems of the economy at the regional and federal levels.

Resources and facilities
The Institute has comprehensive facilities that allow to introduce new technologies into the educational process, using electronic resources, and improving the level of scientific research.
There are 6 computer classes, 10 lecture halls, 21 group laboratories supplied with multimedia equipment.
A necessary condition for the competitiveness of the Institute in the educational market is the presence of a unified information space and the introduction of information technologies and licensed software into all business processes.
It accommodates a section of economics under Division of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Mordovian Regional Public Organisation of the Free Economic Society of Russia, the Regional Branch of the Academy of Quality Problems, the Research Institute of Economics, the Regional Centre for Financial Literacy.

Research
Fundamental and applied research is given much prominence. Over the past 5 years, the Institute research groups have participated in the implementation of 7 international joint educational projects, have had a winning record of EU Erasmus+ Programme funding, won grants from the Russian Science Foundation, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Grant Science Foundation, received support from V. Potanin Foundation, have been members of consortia in projects implemented by other universities (St. Petersburg Polytechnic University).
The Institute has been constantly expanding cooperation in science with domestic and friendly foreign universities.
Teaching staff and students take part in various research programmes and projects, participate in international symposiums and conferences, undergo internships in leading research centres and organisations in Russia and abroad.
The Institute also offers a number of PhD and Higher Doctorate programmes.
