DR. ABDELMALIK: WHEN AMBITION HAS NO LIMITS
28.02.2024

Abdelmalik Mohamed Arif Abdullah came fr om Sudan. He studied at our university to become a doctor and now works as a therapist at the Lytkarino clinic in Moscow. An excellent interview on the website of the Russian newspaper «Rossiyskaya gazeta «about an ambitious person who studied in Russia and became part of its people and considered an outstanding specialist: interesting stories from life, about the present and future!

Abdelmalik Mohamed Arif Abdullah came from Sudan. His father, a middle-class entrepreneur, his mother, a housewife, and his nine brothers and sisters remained at home. His parents thought for a long time about wh ere to send Abdelmalik to study. The choice fell on National Research Mordovia State University. Tuition is not as expensive as at the Sorbonne or Moscow State University. The specialty was chosen by his family council and nine years ago Abdelmalik became a student specializing in «General Medicine».

— How do you like the Russian winter?

«I came to Russia just in the winter,» says Abdelmalik with a slight accent. «In thin trousers and a T-shirt. In our capital Khartoum everyone walks like this. By the time I got my luggage, I almost got frostbite but now I’m used to it. Previously, I only saw snow on TV. It’s beautiful, like our robes. Until now I can’t get used to the cold».

Abdelmalik will never forget his first round. It was necessary to visit an old woman with hypertension. There was clearly someone behind the door. He breathed heavily, but did not open it. This woman was afraid of this African doctor. Then, when her daughter came home everything fell into place. The next visit went In an excellent way. So, step by step, the popularity of the black doctor in Lytkarino grew. He always smiles with his snow-white smile «I am ready to listen patiently about the ailments of old age».

I rent an apartment in Moscow in Pechatniki with a friend. My friends are here in Moscow. They study at RUDN University. On weekends, we meet at someone’s apartment and cook kirsa with bamna. These are corn tortillas with meat sauce and vegetables. We buy African spices in a special store in RUDN University. I also like borsch and I can eat a whole pan. Unfortunately I don’t know how to cook it. I eat it when I visit my Russian friends.

-Do you miss your homeland?

I miss my country so much, but tickets are too expensive. The summer before last, my mom and dad came to visit me. They really liked Moscow. I can spend hours wandering the streets in the center. I like Red Square, Park of Culture and VDNH.

At VDNH, Abdelmalik learned to skate. «Of course, at first I was like an ostrich on ice. I almost twisted my ankle». And now he skates like a real Muscovite.

When he came to work at a clinic near Moscow, the staffing situation was dire. There were not enough doctors, especially therapists. A new chief doctor arrived, and vacancies began to be filled. Doctors from the Caucasian republics and neighboring countries work here. Of the 20 jobs, 15 are currently occupied. So you shouldn’t be surprised with a doctor from Sudan.
