THE LAUNCH OF THE INDIAN CULTURAL CENTER IN MORDOVIA On July 4, the Indian Culture Center had a grand opening at MRSU. The event was attended by the Head of the Republic of Mordovia Mr. Artyom Zdunov, the Minister of Education of the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation Mr. Subrata Das, and the Rector of the university Mr. Dmitry Glushko, and foreign students with their parents who flew specially from India to attend this festive events.

3.jpgCurrently, there’s more than 2.300 foreign students at MRSU (about a third of them are represents India) and this figure is growing on yearly basis. At the end of 2022, after the start of the special military operations, 162 Indian students from five different universities in Ukraine moved to Mordovia to continue their studies at MRSU.

It is gratifying that over the past three years we have significantly increased our cooperation and increased the number of Indian students. In total, we now have more than 700 students — This also reflects the students' trust in our republic. Once again, I want to assure that personally, the government of our republic, the rector of the university will do everything for the safety of your children, so that they can receive a high quality education and they will practice their favorite sports, in particular, such as cricket «said the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov.
4.jpgThe Center is designed to become a place of attraction and exchange of experience for foreign and Russian students and to acquaint residents of the region and guests of Saransk with the Indian culture. Also, it was designed to help students arriving from India to Russia, to adapt to the new way of life in the new country, and also to organically merge within the students' communities and activities so as to feel themselves as an integral part of the university team.

It is a great honor for us that a center of Indian culture is opening in the Republic of Mordovia. There are 22,000 of our students studying in Russia, 700 of them are studying at MRSU. They become part of Russian culture, learn the Russian language and strength our cooperation» said Subrata Das, Minister of Education of the Embassy of India in the Russian Federation.

Indian students arranged the space of the center themselves: they came up with sketches, painted the walls with thematic drawings, decorated recreation areas, reading areas, sports areas.
«Education of foreign students enriches the republic with new colors, languages and other cultures. Hindi, dance and yoga teachers will work in our center. And, of course, together with students from different countries, we will also learn Russian. And this once again confirms that higher education, cultures and science bring peoples together"concluded the Rector MR. Dmitry Glushko.

16.jpgAs part of the grand opening, interactive platforms from Russian and foreign students operated. Here, guests could try on national Indian costumes, get acquainted with dances and songs, get traditional henna tattoos, and learn about the sights of the cities from which the students came.

After the grand opening, foreign students from India and Iraq presented figure skating dance (Ice dance) at the universal hall «Ogaryov Arena».
