On September 13, Ogarev Mordovia State University (MRSU) hosted its annual Freshmen’s Day under the motto «Now I am an Ogarev Student.» More than 5,000 new students officially became part of the university community, including 1,168 international students.
A day earlier, on September 12, freshmen took part in an interactive quest across the university’s structural divisions. This format introduced them to the university’s infrastructure and highlighted the wide range of academic and extracurricular activities available at MRSU. The day ended with a concert by the creative ensembles of the Palace of Culture and Arts.
Currently, MRSU is home to more than 19,500 students representing 78 regions of Russia and 56 countries worldwide.
The celebration offered first-year students a chance to explore the university’s departments and discover opportunities in science, culture, creativity, and sports. The festivities culminated in a student party featuring a special guest performance by DJ Ksalimovv, a well-known participant of Russian Student Spring festivals.
Addressing the newcomers, Head of the Republic of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov emphasized the importance of their choice:«Dear students, I congratulate you on the most important step in your life — admission to Mordovia State University. Your profession will become a strong foundation for you, your family, and our country. Study diligently, help each other, and make the most of the opportunities this university offers — both in academics and in sports. I wish you success and good luck!»
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova also shared a video greeting:«Student life is unique — it’s about knowledge, friendships, and emotions that enrich your life. I wish you a bright and ambitious journey, one you will always remember with pride as graduates of Mordovia State University. Special thanks to the professors who will guide you and shape you into true professionals and patriots of our great country.»

Live energetically and creatively, make your parents proud, and remember that we are here to support your growth. This is your day and your celebration. Congratulations — you are now Ogaryov students!»
Spiritual and community leaders, including Metropolitan Zinoviy of Saransk and Mordovia, Mufti Rail Asainov, as well as student and frontline volunteer Elena Grachyova, also addressed the students with words of encouragement.
A Day to Remember
During the event, freshmen took part in the solemn Ogaryov Student Oath ceremony and the symbolic tying of university ties, led by Student Council Chair Maria Rubtsova, who also announced the results of the adaptation quest.
The artistic part of the program featured performances by MRSU’s creative groups, cover bands, and the headline act — DJ Ksalimovv (Karim Salimov), a Bauman Moscow State Technical University student, multiple winner of Moscow Student Spring, and a close friend of MRSU.
