On November 1, MRSU University welcomed a distinguished guest, Academician Sergey Gautier, Director of the V.I. Shumakov National Medical Research Center for Transplantology and Artificial Organs and Chief Freelance Transplantologist for Russia’s Ministry of Health. Sergey Gautier, who is also a professor and chairman of the Russian Transplant Society, visited the university to formalize a new collaboration and share insights with aspiring medical professionals.
The visit commenced with the signing of a landmark agreement between the Shumakov Center and MRSU University. The partnership focuses on organ and tissue donation, transplantation, and nephrology, covering clinical and educational initiatives as well as research and methodological support. The collaboration will enable both institutions to exchange clinical expertise, conduct scientific research, organize professional training, and employ cutting-edge technologies like telemedicine and simulation in transplantation practices.
Following the signing, Gautier addressed over 250 medical students in a packed lecture hall, discussing key issues in organ transplantation, regenerative medicine, and bioartificial organs. His talk drew significant interest, with students posing questions about the future of organ transplantation, including possibilities involving both human and animal organs.
