Saransk, October 29 — A delegation fr om India’s SRM Institute of Science and Technology visited Mordovia State University, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the two institutions and reinforcing Russia-India educational ties. The delegation’s visit included comprehensive tours of Mordovia State University’s facilities, with a focus on enhancing academic and research collaborations.
The SRM Institute of Science and Technology, one of India’s top educational institutions, is home to over 52,000 students and more than 3,200 faculty members. Led by SRM’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Muthamizhchelvan Chellamuthu, the delegation included Director of International Relations Lakshmi Narasimhan, Dean of Electrical Engineering Vijayakumar Krishnasamy, and Physics and Nanotechnology Professor Navaneethan Mani. This visit aligns with the goals of Russia’s «Priority 2030» program, aiming to strengthen joint research and development initiatives.
On October 28, a preliminary meeting was held with Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, and Mordovia State University’s Rector, Dmitry Glushko. They discussed the partnership’s achievements, including the establishment of a Russian Language and Culture Center in Chennai. Launched on September 16, the Center offers language and cultural resources to Indian students and is supported by Mordovia State University with educational and methodological materials.
«We rapidly established the Russian Language Center in Chennai, which has been well-received among Indian students. Our next objective is to deepen research collaboration in biotechnology, engineering, electronics, photonics, and more. This partnership not only strengthens our academic ties but also builds new economic bridges between our countries,» said Rector Dmitry Glushko.
The SRM delegation also visited state-of-the-art research labs wh ere they observed the latest advancements in physics, chemistry, electronics, and lighting technology, as well as joint projects with industrial partners. Additionally, they explored the M.M. Bakhtin Center and the Indian Cultural Center on campus, gaining insight into the cultural and academic environment available to Indian students at Mordovia State University.
The visit included a recreational ice-skating session organized by the Interskate team, allowing the SRM representatives to connect with Indian students currently enrolled at Mordovia State University and discuss opportunities for student life and holistic development. «I believe this partnership will become one of the most significant collaborations between our nations. We highly value Mordovia State University’s educational and research standards and look forward to making substantial progress in strengthening ties between Russia and India,» stated Vice-Chancellor Muthamizhchelvan Chellamuthu.
