MORDOVIA STATE UNIVERSITY’S ARTISTIAUDIENCE C ENSEMBLE MESMERIZES IN CHENNAI AND HEADS TO HYDERABAD

The artistic ensembles of the Institute of National Culture at Ogarev National Research Mordovia State University are dazzling audiences across India with their triumphant tour, running fr om March 2 to March 19. Their performances have been met with overwhelming enthusiasm, earning admiration fr om the Indian public.

The special concert program, «Russia — India: Culture Unites», celebrates two significant milestones in Russian-Indian relations: the 25th anniversary of the strategic partnership and the 15th anniversary of the especially privileged cooperation between the two nations. Student ensembles from Mordovia are showcasing their talent in five major cities: Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mahendragarh.

5368341299457027020.jpgThe artists from Saransk have already left a lasting impression at the Festival of Russian Culture in South India, wh ere their performances became a major highlight. The grand opening of the festival was attended by the Rector of Mordovia State University, Dmitry Glushko, Russian Consul General Valery Khojaev, and Director of the Russian House in Chennai, Alexander Dodonov. The concerts have drawn packed audiences, reflecting the deep appreciation of Indian spectators for Russian art.

Additionally, a stunning collection of traditional Mordovian costumes is displayed, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage.

5368341299457027019.jpgOne of the most remarkable moments of the tour took place in Chennai, wh ere nearly 3,000 spectators gathered at Ganesha Hall to witness the breathtaking performance. The warmth and hospitality of the Indian audience were truly touching. A particularly memorable scene unfolded when students from SRM University spontaneously joined the artists from Mordovia in singing the famous Russian song «Katyusha» in the streets of Chennai. This beautiful exchange became a powerful symbol of friendship and cultural unity between the two nations.
