International Students of MRSU University Win Prizes at the High-Tech Championship

From September 14 to 18, international students of Ogarev Mordovia State University (MRSU) took part in the IV High-Tech Championship in Veliky Novgorod, demonstrating their skills in advanced technological fields and earning top-three finishes in their respective competencies.

The final of the championship was held at the Intelligent Electronics — Valdai Innovative Scientific and Technological Center. More than 15,000 participants from 89 Russian regions and 30 countries took part in the competition. This year, all 20 competencies were focused for the first time on challenges and professional tasks in the transport industry.

MRSU was represented in the international competition by its international students, who competed under the guidance of expert mentors in two high-tech competencies.

Robotics for the Warehouse of the Future

Mahmoud Abada, an international student from the Republic of Sudan, competed in the Warehouse Robot Operator-Technician (AGV/AMR) competency under the guidance of expert mentor Mikhail Larin.

The competition tested participants' ability to operate and maintain robotic mobile platforms, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).

Among the key tasks were programming robot movements, configuring navigation and marker-based localization algorithms, and developing optimal routes along a network of markers from the starting point to the destination.

Mahmoud Abada successfully completed the competition tasks and secured second place in his competency.

Advanced Communications for Unmanned Systems

MRSU was also represented by Abdulla Nazarov, an international student from Turkmenistan, who competed in the Hybrid Telecommunications for Unmanned Systems Using Satellite Communications competency. His expert mentor was Igor Yushkov.

The competency focused on designing and configuring communication systems for unmanned aerial vehicles operating in remote areas and challenging environments with significant radio interference.

Participants were required to assemble, configure and test a real communication and navigation system for an unmanned aerial vehicle. The tasks included designing radio communication architectures for unmanned aviation, assembling and configuring radio transmission and reception equipment, and setting up antenna systems and ground control stations.

Following the competition, Abdulla Nazarov took third place in his competency.

The achievements of Mahmoud Abada and Abdulla Nazarov highlight the strong practical and technological skills of MRSU’s international students and their ability to compete successfully at a major national and international-level professional event.
