MRSU CELEBRATES DIWALI WITH INDIAN STUDENTS AND INTERNATIONAL GUESTS Mordovia State University celebrated Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights, with a vibrant cultural programme organised by the university’s Indian student community. This year’s celebration brought together international students, university guests and Saransk residents to explore the rich cultural heritage and traditions of India.

The event began with a series of master classes and interactive cultural stations introducing participants to India’s rich cultural heritage. Indian students presented traditional handicrafts, henna art and hand painting, inviting international students, university guests and Saransk residents to take part in the activities, explore Indian traditions and experience the country’s vibrant culture first-hand.

The celebration continued with a theatrical performance dedicated to Diwali and its history. The programme featured dramatic scenes, traditional dances and other creative performances prepared and presented by the students themselves. Through their performances, the students shared the meaning and traditions of the festival, creating a festive atmosphere and bringing the audience closer to Indian culture.

MRS_0057.JPGThis year’s celebration was especially memorable thanks to the participation of students and academic staff from RPS Group of Institutions, one of MRSU’s partner institutions in India. Their presence added an international dimension to the event and provided another opportunity to strengthen cultural and academic ties between the two institutions.

During their visit, the delegation members expressed their pleasure at taking part in the celebration and praised the university’s support for international students. They highlighted the importance of educational and cultural activities in helping students feel a stronger sense of belonging to the university community, build friendships across cultures and gain additional motivation in their studies.

Diwali at MRSU once again demonstrated how cultural celebrations can bring people together, encourage intercultural dialogue and make university life a more welcoming and enriching experience for students from around the world.
