On September 19, the staff of the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages conducted an inspiring tour for foreign students fr om the Faculty of Philology at the Pushkin National Library (National Library of Mordovia). The event commenced with a welcoming speech from Alexander Kargin, the First Deputy Minister of Culture, National Policy and Archival Affairs of the Republic of Mordovia, underscoring the vital importance of cultural exchange.
The tour then ventured into the foreign department, wh ere librarians passionately introduced the students to the library’s diverse and invaluable collection, unveiling upcoming events and showcasing rare editions. In the Hall of State Symbols, the library director, Anastasia Bakulina, delivered an engaging address, while staff fr om the information and bibliographic services department passionately shared insights about the state symbols of Russia and Mordovia.
Visitors were then transported to the Pushkin Hall, wh ere they delved into the library’s rich history, its visionary founders, and pivotal moments fr om A. S. Pushkin’s illustrious life. Students were also invited to immerse themselves in intellectually stimulating activities in the «Mind Games» room.
The tour culminated in the rare books department, wh ere students had the extraordinary opportunity to interact with unique editions in various languages, all impeccably preserved.
This enriching experience not only deepened the students' understanding of Russian literature but also ignited a profound appreciation for the cultural heritage housed within the library.
