OGAREV MORDOVIA STATE UNIVERSITY EXPLORES ACADEMIC COOPERATION AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN IRAQ

Baghdad, Iraq | May 28−29 — An international academic conference was held at the College of Applied Arts in Iraq, bringing together approximately 100 scholars from across Iran, Egypt, Tunisia, and various Iraqi universities. Representing Russia, Head of the Department of Journalism at N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University, Dr. Ksenia Dementieva, delivered a keynote presentation titled «Models of Modern Media in the Region of Russia.»

The conference proceedings are scheduled for publication in a journal indexed in Scopus, underscoring the academic significance and international reach of the event.

In the framework of the conference, Dr. Dementieva held strategic meetings with Prof. Dr. Wadhah Amer Hatem, Rector of the Middle Technical University, and representatives of the College of Applied Arts. The discussions focused on fostering institutional collaboration between Middle Technical University and N. P. Ogarev Mordovia State University.

A preliminary draft of a cooperation agreement between the two universities was reviewed, identifying mutual areas of interest in disciplines such as medicine, engineering, agriculture, and the arts. However, journalism was emphasized as the primary field for future collaboration.

Potential forms of academic cooperation include:

  • Student exchanges and joint network-based academic programs

  • Organization of joint scientific conferences and symposia

  • Collaborative research supervision and peer review of academic work

  • Participation of Russian scholars on Iraqi doctoral dissertation defense committees to enhance the evaluation of research quality and rigor

This initiative reflects the growing global engagement of Ogarev Mordovia State University and its commitment to developing meaningful international partnerships in higher education and research.
