A NEW ACADEMIC YEAR BEGINS AT MRSU WITH KNOWLEDGE DAY CELEBRATIONS

A new academic year has officially begun at Mordovia State University named after N. P. Ogarev (MRSU). On September 1, the University welcomed students back to campus as solemn ceremonies were held across MRSU to celebrate Knowledge Day and the start of the 2026−2027 academic year.

The first day of the academic year brought together thousands of students, faculty members, university staff, and families in an atmosphere of celebration and new beginnings. For first-year students in particular, the day marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their academic and personal lives.

In 2026, MRSU is home to more than 19,500 students across all levels and forms of education. The University has welcomed 4,810 first-year students, including young people from 58 regions of Russia and 39 countries around the world.

A Message to Students

Acting Rector of MRSU Larisa Balykova congratulated students, faculty members, and parents on the beginning of the new academic year.

Addressing first-year students, she emphasized that choosing a university is one of the most important decisions in a young person’s life and noted the strong motivation, ambition, and potential demonstrated by the new cohort.

She encouraged students to set ambitious goals and make the most of their university years by taking part in research, creative activities, sports, and student life «The University will help you unlock your talents. Do not be afraid to set ambitious goals, participate in research, create, engage in sports and social activities. I wish you perseverance in your studies, memorable experiences, and true friends!»

The Acting Rector also expressed her gratitude to the parents of first-year students for their trust in the University, as well as to the teaching staff for their contribution to educating and preparing future professionals who will contribute to the development of science and the regional economy.

A Special Year for MRSU

The 2026−2027 academic year is particularly significant for Mordovia State University. On October 1, 2026, MRSU will celebrate its 95th anniversary. The date also coincides with the Day of Higher Education of the Republic of Mordovia. The University community looks forward to marking this important milestone with outstanding achievements, new initiatives, and ambitious plans for the future.
