CUBAN DELEGATION VISITS SARANSK: STRENGTHENING SPORTS COLLABORATION AT MORDOVIAN UNIVERSITY

A significant step in international sports cooperation took place as a Cuban delegation, led by Raúl de Jesús Trujillo Díaz, visited Mordovian State University (MRSU) Trujillo Díaz, a legendary coach who has trained multiple Olympic champions, including five-time Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling champion Mijaín López Núñez, shared his expertise with Russian athletes and students.

«This is a unique opportunity for any coach, regardless of the sport, to learn from the experience of Raúl de Jesús Trujillo Díaz. Hearing firsthand from Cuba’s national team head coach about training methodologies, sports psychology, and athlete preparation is invaluable,» noted Artem Surkov, Russian Championship medalist and two-time European champion.

During their visit, the Cuban guests engaged with students, discussing the role of mentorship in athlete development, the importance of interpersonal relationships, and the historical ties between Cuba and the USSR in sports.

Notably, this marks Trujillo Díaz's second visit to Saransk, following his trip in August last year alongside Mijaín López Núñez, who conducted an exclusive masterclass for local wrestlers. The visit reaffirms Saransk and Mordovian University’s commitment to fostering international sports collaboration and knowledge exchange.
