INTERNATIONAL RUSSIAN LANGUAGE OLYMPIAD AT MRSU

International Russian Language Olympiad at Ogarev Mordovia State University Dedicated to the 130th Anniversary of M.M. Bakhtin

Are you an international student passionate about languages, culture, and academic excellence? Join us for the International Olympiad «The Russian Language in the Interaction of Languages and Cultures», hosted by Ogarev Mordovia State University in honor of the great philosopher and literary theorist Mikhail Mikhailovich Bakhtin.

Who Can Participate?
Foreign nationals currently studying in Russian universities at the bachelor’s level, as well as international bachelor’s graduates of Russian higher education institutions.

Purpose of the Olympiad
To discover and support talented international students with a strong academic drive and a deep interest in the Russian language and cross-cultural dialogue.

Format and Stages
The Olympiad includes two stages:

Preliminary Stage (Online) | April 10−17, 2025 Participants are invited to submit an essay (up to 3 pages) on one of the following thought-provoking topics inspired by M.M. Bakhtin:

• «Culture reveals itself more fully and deeply only in the eyes of another culture…»
• «Life by its very nature is dialogic. To live means to engage in dialogue — to ask, to listen, to respond, to agree…»
• «To be is to engage in dialogue. When the dialogue ends, everything ends.»
• Bakhtin in the history of Saransk

Formatting Requirements: Font size 14, line spacing 1.5, 2 cm margins on all sides.

Final Stage (In-person) | April 21, 2025 at 11:30 AM Location: Room 520, Building 1, Ogarev Mordovia State University, Saransk
Participants will:
-Complete a written Russian language test
-Take part in a creative oral task
