University scientists have developed a technology for producing hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC).
HPMC is hydrophilic (water soluble), a biodegradable, and biocompatible polymer having a wide range of applications in drug delivery, dyes and paints, cosmetics, adhesives, coatings, agriculture, and textiles.
HPMC improves consistency, stability and water retention, for example in latex paints, mortars and other products. Its use in construction reduces cracking.
It is worth mentioning that only a few foreign companies produce this material, and Russia doesn’t have its own production of it.
